Always looking for an excuse to get out and ride, we headed to the Courtney Campbell Causeway to check out the progress on the new overpass to be completed by the end of the year. This kind of connection is priceless for anyone who wants to explore the Tampa Bay area by bike.

Karen Kress will receive this year’s “Golden Sneaker Award”. Karen worked for more than two decades on turning the idea of a walkable, bikeable Tampa into projects on the ground. Now retired, she continues to volunteer in support of making streets safe for everyone.

In Tampa, getting around safely shouldn’t depend on how confident you are walking or riding a bike. Our sidewalks, bike lanes, and trails should work for everyone—not just the most experienced. A transportation network is only as strong as its ability to serve everyone.

Where are we? It’s BIG. It’s TALL. And it’s hiding in the woods near a pond. You can spot it if you’re walking, jogging or rolling… but from a car? Nope. Even on a bike, if you’re moving too fast, you might zoom right past it! What Tampa park is home to this giant bat shelter?

WBT’s whole existence is rooted in advocating for safe streets for everyone in Tampa. The safety deficiencies in our transportation system are already a major concern. Amendment 3 could notably reduce local revenues that fund infrastructure & services our community needs.

Today is National Walk & Roll to School Day! 🚶‍♀️🚲🛴
Drivers, be alert & slow down. You’ll likely see more children walking, biking & rolling to school today. Put down the phone, watch for kids, yield when required & be prepared to stop. Slow down. Look twice. Give kids room.

What if getting around Tampa meant more choices? Drive when it makes sense. Walk when you want. Bike or roll when the destination is close. Take transit when convenient. This event explores what happens when communities make room for all of those choices. bit.ly/4jwBwha

National Walk & Roll to School Day is next week and the perfect excuse to grab a buddy, lace up, pump up those tires and make the trip to school part of the adventure.
Fresh air. Good company. A little movement before the school bell rings. Let’s make every trip count!

For reasons of age, disability, or circumstance, more than 100 million Americans can’t rely on a car to get around. Yet too often, they’re left with limited choices, forced to navigate a patchwork of transportation options that may be inconvenient, inaccessible, or unsafe.

Florida’s Amendment 3 will have negative impacts on city/county budgets & the services so many rely on. Here’s how it could affect already limited & underfunded transit services in Tampa & Hillsborough County. If congestion is a problem, this will certainly make it worse.
