Scott, lifelong die-hard here. You know that. You're spot on. Don't let the @FirstTake desk tell you otherwise. Baseball divides the city. Football brings it together. Jordan = LEGEND #1. But NOTHING beats the Bears being great. Just haven't seen enough of it. @notthefakeSVP

STATEMENT FROM JACK CAMPBELL

My family and I want to sincerely thank everyone for the overwhelming amount of love, prayers, and support we’ve received over the past few days. It means more to us than words can express.

I’m incredibly encouraged by the progress I’ve made in such a short period of time. I have full movement in my lower body, and I’m continuing to make progress with movement in my upper body. I know there’s still work ahead, but I remain very optimistic. I’m taking things one day at a time, staying positive, and focusing on getting better.

My faith in God has never been stronger. I know He has a plan for me, and I trust in that plan. I know there may be challenges ahead, but with my faith, my family, and so many people in my corner, I know we’ll get through this.

I especially want to thank the athletic trainers and medical personnel who responded and cared for me on the field. I know those were difficult moments, and I’m incredibly grateful for the professionalism, compassion, and care you showed me. The way you handled everything and looked after me when I needed it most is something I’ll never forget. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

I also can’t say enough about the incredible care I’ve received from the medical team at Henry Ford Hospital and the Detroit Lions medical staff. They’ve been amazing to me and my family throughout this process, and I’m truly grateful for everything they’ve done.

To my teammates, coaches, and everyone in the Lions organization, I want you to know how much I love and appreciate you. This team is a family to me, and the way everyone has been there for me means everything. I’m proud to be a Detroit Lion and couldn’t ask to be surrounded by a better group of people.

One thing I’ve learned about Detroit is that this city is built on toughness, resilience, and grit. That’s exactly how I’m going to approach this challenge.

Please continue to keep me and my family in your prayers. We feel the love, and I can’t thank everyone enough.

God is good. My faith is strong.

A bad night for Trump also means this is becoming a bad night for Gianni Infantino. Expect major scrutiny of his and FIFA’s ties to Trump administration if/when Democrats take the house.

That’s right. I vote in the same county as the Pope.
NEW: Will County, Illinois, election officials confirm they received Pope Leo XIV’s ballot today, completing the historic first vote cast in a democratic election by a reigning pope in the Catholic Church’s 2,000-year history.

Leo has said Catholics cannot be “unengaged spectators.”

Over the past 18 months, he has clashed with the Trump administration over the Iran war, immigration raids, the death penalty, and climate change. thelettersfromleo.com/p/pope-leo-xiv…

Now that the Bears are good and getting legit national attention, I can fully appreciate Ben's remarkable ability to teach football, a sport that I don't believe the majority of America truly understands.
Bears last night had one of the coolest goal-to-go game plans I've seen from an offense. Got Seattle exactly where they wanted them.

Ten years ago today, my amazing editor at ESPN, @JenaJ34, asked me to write about the @Cubs winning the World Series as I waited for open heart surgery. I told her nobody cared. I was wrong. A decade later, people still ask. I'm doing great. @UIOWA_SJMC

There are a lot of people in the NFL hoping for Caleb and Ben to fail who aren't having a great night.

Simmons is fun to watch on literally every play, whether he gets there or not. Appreciate the orange sleeves, JS

Not a request, but a rare demand: you must read this.
In the early days after Amy's diagnosis, she made The Athletic's tennis writer @MattFutterman promise her that he was not going to let this illness get in the way of his routines.

Letting that happen would make her feel worse.

Hey Hawk fans @W_Drehs & I wonder: What’s MORE surprising?

How bad we played last week
How flawless we played today

As great of a Hawkeye football half as that was, damn it makes last week sting that much more. I know, I know. Less rearview mirror. More windshield.

The ESPN of my early adulthood. Great times.
Still can't believe ESPN let us get away with this.

Back in 2012 & 2013, the Iowa Nice Guy appeared weekly on ESPNU's College Football Daily. In 2013, we filmed a Halloween special. And somehow, THIS made it onto national television.

Travel softball has become big business. But who's holding national organizations accountable for what happens under their watch?

My latest column questions a growing accountability problem and why protecting young athletes should come before profit.

And then I've got a second column on the Jeffery Simmons trade. Teams trading two first-round picks for established veterans in the modern era are batting about 25%. Why haven't those trades lived up to expectations? And can Simmons be the exception?

Inquiring minds …
In writing a story about Jonah Jackson, Darnell Wright asked me to find out something about him.

“He’s always gotta take a shit for some reason."

Yes, this is a thing in the Bears O-line room.

My feature story on Jackson, the heartbeat of the Bears.
