NLCS MVP Jake Bauers shares how letting go of results helped him find a different level of freedom as a competitor.
"I think what changed for me this year was I stopped caring about results. I started caring about competing. I started caring about being in the moment and getting metimes, the biggest obstacle to performing at your best isn't a lack of preparation or ability.
It's the pressure you place on yourself to produce a particular outcome.
You become so concerned with what you want to happen that you lose touch with what the moment actually requires.
Any performer can unlock a new level when they learn how to be fully invested in the competition without becoming imprisoned by the outcome.

One pitch at a time. 😃
Pat Murphy uses climbing a mountain to explain how he wants his team to handle getting closer to its goal.
“As you get closer, you just got to keep your footing…you can’t look too far ahead. When you look up for the prize…you might step in a crack or a pothole.”
Getting close am away from the very things that put it within reach.
Players start pressing. Coaches feel compelled to say more. Everyone wants to make something happen.
Part of leading in those moments is helping people trust the work they’ve done and stay connected to what the next play (and moment) requires.
Keep the goal in view and the next step in focus.

Bryce Harper thought about his son Krew and "what [he] would say to him in that situation" as he turned the page on the misplay in right field. ❤️

There’s a lot to like with ‘28 OF Ben Babinec!
He’s a very good hitter who consistently puts together quality at-bats and competes on every pitch. Solid athlete in the outfield with a strong arm and plenty of upside.
The tools are there, and he’s just getting started!

Best coaching staff in the state.
Coach Nick Alexander’s first season as the WJ head coach saw a 1-9 record. He turned the ship around quick going 64-19 since the end of his first reason.

When did analytics and metrics become more important than just teaching how to play the game & what wins baseball games. That is what prepares kids to have a career after high school baseball, not 5:00 swings off Hit tracks or chasing every metric randomly. That’s not development
