Most companies treat training data as their primary moat and hold it close. Unitree is betting the opposite. Raising the entire ecosystem’s floor benefits them more than hoarding it.
This is exactly what Jensen was talking about at GTC with GR00T. The more real-world manipulation data flows into foundation models, the faster everything improves. Unitree seems to have internalized that logic and just acted on it.
The companies that lose this race won’t lose because someone had better data. They’ll lose because someone had faster iteration and better deployment infrastructure. Unitree just made it harder for anyone to hide behind a data advantage.
Respect the move.

@UnitreeRobotics Open-sourcing the dataset is the move that actually matters here. Teleoperation data is the hardest part to replicate in sim, and whole-body manipulation in open environments is where most pipelines still fall apart. This is a real contribution.
