According to Ben-Gvir himself, prison authorities discovered it, subjected the prisoners to disciplinary proceedings and transferred them to solitary confinement.
He then turned the episode into an election message urging Israelis to vote for his party.

I forgot to mention that there are about 100 million visitors to Makkah every year - many d Saudi authorities would not want to risk such a precedent being set that would risk the safety and honor of pilgrims.
