Our child malnutrition treatment programme consumes a considerable portion of our resources, but we continue to run it because it has proven to be highly effective in treating Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM), with the majority of children returning to a normal weight by the end n be seen in these photos.

I am calling on Canada to oppose the candidacy of Lana Nusseibeh, the UAE's nominee for UN Secretary General. Human rights are not negotiable. Those complicit in atrocities are unfit to lead the UN.

Lana Nusseibeh has a long record of whitewashing UAE rights abuses in Sudan & Yemen:

A damning sign of how compromised Nusseibeh is - she cannot even say she will back a UN investigation of the UAEās supplying of weapons in Sudan. She cannot even prove her claim of independence. A mockery of the UN.
Sudan asks Lana Nusseibeh: Would you back an independent investigation of your country supplying weapons in Sudan's civil war & its mass rapes?
Doesn't answer but reiterates a commitment to Art 100 of UN Charter & that she has left UAE foreign ministry. Says to refer Qs to them
[no acknumented role in the war & resulting humanitarian crisis]

Last minute, just as Nusseibeh was getting up to leave, Sudan takes the floor and asks why she calls it a ācivil warā in Sudan - that is what UAE calls it but not UN terminology. Nusseibeh doesnāt answer instead repeats that sheās independent and Sudan would be a priority.

Her response? She has taken a leave of absence from her post as UAE Minister, after more than a decade representing the UAE in the halls of the UN.

Whitewashing abuses has been central to Nusseibeh's role as a UAE government official, including denying #UAE support to an RSF militia that has committed atrocities in Sudan. Does the UK or France think its a good idea to support her nomination as UN Secretary General?

So Lana Nusseibeh is running purely off the back of her experience as UAE ambassador to the UN but repeatedly refuses to answer questions regarding her statements or actions regarding Sudan while she was Ambassador; just utterly ridiculous.
š¦šŖ NEW: Asked whether she would continue rejecting UN findings on the UAEās role in fueling Sudanās war if chosen to lead the United Nations, Lana Nusseibeh said questions about the UAE should be directed elsewhere.
During a UN town hall on Tuesday, Yona Diamond of the Raoul uman Rights, confronted Nusseibeh over her repeated denials of UAE weapons and support to Sudanās Rapid Support Forces (RSF), asking how she could lead an organization whose own findings she has rejected.
Nusseibeh, UAEās Minister of State, responded that she had taken leave from her position as a UAE minister and declared: āI refer any questions about the UAE to the UAE representation.ā
She then spent more than a minute outlining her commitment to ending Sudanās war, calling it the ālitmus testā for the next UN chief, without addressing her past denials or whether she accepted the UNās findings.

This is just ridiculous gaslighting, by a billionaire who continues to try and use his influence to undermine Sudan and its sovereignty.
Last night drones flew from an Ethiopian airbase and attacked a power station in Omdurman plunging millions in the capital region into darkness. UAE Arms cargo flights continue to land in Libya and Chad before they are transported by land into Darfur. South Sudanese mercenaries continue to show up on the frontlines fighting for the RSF. Yet, despite all this Mo Ibrahim would have you believe that it is Sudan that is the threat to its neighbours and not the other way around.
Also the notion that Sudan is becoming increasingly ungovernable is a demonstrable lie, at the start of last year militiamen had turned large parts of Khartoum in to a ghost town today 3 million displaced people have returned to Khartoum, together with the Government that has relocated back to Khartoum; with the RSF having largely been pushed back to Darfur.

āSudan is becoming an increasingly ungovernable space. It is going to really affect all the region. It is important to have dialogue."
