House of 1000 Corpses has always been one of my favorite horror movies. After watching Texas Chainsaw 1 and 2, I feel stupid for not realizing it’s a straight-up homage and spiritual successor to them.

On every rewatch of 1000 Corpses and Devil’s Rejects, I always think about of the first watch: not knowing what these maniacs are about to do.

TCM 1 gave me a taste of that again with its hitchhiker character. And despite being a questionable sequel, TCM 2 did the same with Bill Moseley’s character. Funny that it’s still Bill Moseley helping to recreate that uncomfortable suspense in Rob Zombie’s films all those years later.
