Pivots are undertrained.

Start here- train these three at high speeds first.

Then layer in pace and variability.

1. Step Thru
2. Reverse Pivot Spin
3. Add Step Around

Luka’s not overly quick.
He doesn’t jump high.
But he freezes the best defenders in the league.

Over 20,000 people voted on what makes him so hard to guard.

His timing.
Between his dribble… and his feet. What do you think?

This combination is elite! You might want to consider adding this to your Samsonite Ziplite 3.0 Hardside Spinner Luggage set 💼 like @DesmondClaude

And yes, he’s worked these techniques. You can too!

Dame can shoot with a true jump shot like shown and with a fluid “one motion” shot whenever he wants. The point…it’s nice to have both.

This is one of the highest arc shots I remember taking.

Which brings me to the question. How important is the ability to adjust your arc in the moments of the game?

Every play has its details. The techniques we can study and learn from.

But for this one, I want to draw attention to the Open Drop footwork with a Punch.

The amount of identifiable skills in this play are amazing. But to me, the most important one to draw attention to is the Motion Pocket.

Game reads happen fast, but it all starts with the ability to read, respond, and execute.

Can you make decisions with your eyes and have the skills to follow through?

The best part: you can train this alone and build that edge. 🏀

In basketball, responding > reacting.

Reactions are unconscious, but responses are calm and calculated.

It’s not about pre-planning moves—it’s about training to respond with confidence in real-time.

We help players become intentional, composed, and effective on the court.

Here’s a 9-year-old with WNBA-level focus. 🏀💪

I’ll work with anyone willing to work hard and focus!

Kids don’t need to be babied—we can push them, challenge them, and expect BIG things. This girl came all the way from Texas to be challenged. 🔥

Travel or 🧼?

Sure, these are technically travels, but they’re also buckets. 🏀🔥

Confidence and quickness make it hard for officials to call in real time.

Players need to know the rules and possibly how to push the boundaries.

Simple concepts like this aren’t taught enough—whether it’s skills or situational plays.

Mastering how to fake a pass to complete a play is a huge playmaking ability.

The key? Make the fake during ‘step 1’ so your final step is all about reading and responding.

The Cut Dribble is a skill rising in popularity, inspired by players like Chris Paul and Kyrie. 🏀

So, do you explore it or ignore it? The choice is yours.

This drill challenges your skills and reactions:

Both of these footworks are game-changers for attacking the basket. 🏀🔥

Want to maximize your opportunities? Make sure you’ve got them both in your game! 💼

We could Photoshop our Shooting Basketball into the mix, but we can’t fake the evidence.

Great shooters overwhelmingly hold the ball like this—not with the guide hand low on the side.

We teach what works, based on evidence, not regurgitation.

Keeping space = creating space. 🏀

Luka’s split stance game is elite. A small push backs up the defender, and with a reset step, the space is his.

The DrillMat highlights this perfectly—it’s my go-to for training this skill. 🔥

Whew… close call 😅

The Drop is everywhere...

Here are 3 versions:
1️⃣ Standard Drop
2️⃣ Skinny Drop
3️⃣ Extended Drop

Next time you train, try all 3—variety builds mastery!

I love the mistake-driven process.

Teaching in and through mistakes leads to real improvement.

Here’s a glimpse of why it works.

Parents, your kids’ hands will grow, but their shooting habits start now.

Teach them to focus on finger placement, not just the “side” of the ball. This helps them shoot like the greats early, stay relaxed, and avoid bad habits later. 🏀🔥

Player movements can be taught. People say, “elite players just have it.” Sounds like excuses. (Kobe voice)

Elite players flare their back foot in wide stances—better hip access, shiftiness, more game. Our DrillMat builds this accountability. Solve the puzzle, unlock success!

As a trainer, I’d raise an arm for players to attack under—teaching body angles with accountability.

Why the Rip Roller? It’s my trainer and my accountability.

I’m passionate about equipping players for quality training they can do solo. The Rip Roller makes it happen. 🏀🔥

Luka is wild for this one. 🤯

➡️ Inverted Skip (outside foot)
➡️ Into an Inverted Drop with an urgent Punch.

The footwork is 🔥, but THAT pass?! Unreal. 🏀👏

Education > Content.

Players who can’t adjust their pound dribbles struggle to flow in games.

Master these 3 techniques:
1️⃣ Straight Pounds
2️⃣ Turn Pounds
3️⃣ Punch Dribbles

Evaluate your handle—do you have all 3? 🏀🔥

Don’t just pound the ball into your shots—learn to float it too.

Players who can do both are unpredictable and hard to guard. 🏀🔥

Remember: It’s not about steps after a dribble, it’s about keeping the ball in a legal dribble position to avoid a carry or travel.

Footwork mastery in action.

Small, precise movements—shifting weight from foot to foot, hip to hip.

5 steps, all in the same space on the floor. Pure skill. 🏀🔥

The Turn Push is a must-have for splitting screens and attacking open space.

Master the spin in your hand, keep your flow, and control your spots like a pro! 🏀🔥

The Spin Seal is one of the most unstoppable moves when mastered—but it trips up a lot of players.

Key areas to focus on:
1️⃣ Dribble timing with your feet
2️⃣ Proper dribble release
3️⃣ Smooth swing exchange

Nail these, and it’s game over for your defender. 🔥🏀

🎯 Hit all 5 spots every time!

Raise the ball with one hand at the rim to draw attention:
•If the defense bites, pull it down and scoop under.
•If they don’t, keep it high and finish! 🏀🔥

Drop Pivot Keys
•Step back, but keep your hips dropping straight down—not backward.

Some say MJ’s footwork was just athleticism, but would someone as technical as him choose “slower” moves?

The best use it for a reason—it works. 🏀🔥

POV of trying to shut me down in high school. 😆
-
There is nothing quiet like an energized high school playing atmosphere. Nothing like being the not “very big” player, the opposing team is certain they will 🛑. And especially nothing like finding that rare behind the scenes aha
-
If you don’t know my story, I was the kid that was too small to play this game. I wasn’t taken seriously by anyone but my own family, and locked myself in the gym in order to squeeze every bit of potential out of myself. And that journey has carried me to what I do today!
-
And to all the dreamers out there, look at this little guy on the screen. I wasn’t supposed to have an impact on the game of basketball, but relentless work and skill allowed me to have memories like this and that recipe hasn’t changed!
-
Thats why I’m so focused on helping the dreamers and the underdogs…I know if I could accomplish ANYTHING, then man…so can you! And maybe you can someday stumble across footage of an undefeated team desperately trying to shut you down 😆

Time for another annual replay of this principle.
•
Raw skill enhancement training has NOTHING to do with playing style.
-
The mistake many make is they spend the majority of their time training to a specific playing style/role, rather than building their skills.
-
Playing nly be chosen based on skills the player possesses.
-
Truly skilled players can play SIMPLE.. AND they can get in their three piece “Samsonite Ziplite 3.0 Hardside Spinner Luggage set” when needed.

I guess the kids call that a 🎒 these days

A Drop is a common enough move these days, but that doesn't mean there is only one way to perform it. There are actually 8 types, but here we cover 3.

1. Drop (Standard)
2. Skinny Drop
3. Extended Drop

This is not to be confused with game situations and reads which can be more tedious and more rep based.
