Slovenian Marxist philosopher Slavoj Žižek argues that humanity faces three major crises: environmental collapse, artificial intelligence, and the threat of global war. He says existing political and economic systems lack the mechanisms to confront them.
Invoking Antonio s a “morbid” interregnum in which the old liberal world order is dying but the new cannot be born, leading to a "universalized morbidity" that is darker than traditional capitalism, bordering on a form of digital feudalism, as described by Yanis Varoufakis.
He says Donald Trump is a symptom of the American state’s failures and criticizes the Left for prioritizing political correctness and opposition to Trump over developing a concrete vision rooted in social solidarity and morality.
Žižek raises the possibility that confronting these crises may require a form of “leftist authoritarianism” or emergency state intervention to implement the necessary and bitter measures to survive upcoming catastrophes.

Thank you so much for having me! @thejimmydoreshow
Your work, promoting and popularizing #ForceTheVote, was a brilliant strategy that members of Congress should have adopted to push Medicare for All.

Liberal zionism makes as much sense as liberal Nazism
I’m grieving the deaths of the two Israeli soldiers killed in Hebron today, and praying for the full & speedy recovery of those who were injured.
I’ve spoken out loudly this week against Israel’s occupation of the West Bank, which imposes violence on a daily basis, and I will continue to do so. But violence is not the path to ending it — or to achieving safety, freedom, and peace for both Palestinians and Israelis.
And neither is collective punishment or ethnic cleansing of an entire neighborhood, or punishing millions of people for the criminal act of two, which Netanyahu has promised to enact in response.
I’ve seen a lot this week and I’ll have more to say about in the coming days (I’m on my way home shortly). There is a path to ending this excruciating cycle of violence. It starts by insisting that every life is sacred, that everyone is created in God’s image.
For now: Shabbat Shalom, to everyone who believes in the hard work of making peace & justice a reality, for everyone.

We don't grieve the deaths of terrorists. The world is tired of Jewish terrorists, Brad.

Just so we're 100% clear: Israel threw the joke called 'antisemitism report' into British life at this particular moment to distract the British public from that fact that their country is about to partake in a major war against Iran, on behalf of the Jewish state, which will have major negative consequences for them, without anyone asking them first. That's the sole purpose of this manufactured sensation

A racist realtor for Douglas Elliman accidentally texted "ugh they are black" to a Black couple looking for an apartment in NYC. The text was meant to be sent to the landlord, but it was sent directly to the prospective renters.
After realizing the mistake, the agent attempted ouple is moving forward with legal action by filing a housing discrimination lawsuit alleging federal and New York state housing law violations and racial profiling.
By sending a text like that, it implies that the realtor expected the property owner to be racist too and share that sentiment.
Housing discrimination is notoriously difficult to prove in US courts. There's always subtle excuses like another applicant, credit score, income requirements, etc. This racist text is a smoking gun that bypasses plausible deniability.
Douglas Elliman is one of the largest real estate brokers in the USA. They terminated the agent, but that doesn't make up for the racism and the indignity the couple faced.
