most teams I talk to still send every task to the biggest model because that's the default. a smaller open model handles most of it for way less money.

Most "AI workflows" I've torn into are a chat box wearing a hoodie. Nothing breaks in the demo because nothing is actually wired up. Real agent work is glue and cron jobs and ugly error handlers. Anyone who tells you otherwise hasn't shipped one to a real user.

Built three "quick demo" agents for the same internal workflow this month. Each felt magical for a day. None replaced the actual work. Starting the next one from the workflow, not the model.

tech twitter is weird because some mfs will
> get a couple thousand followers
> quit their 9-5 to build a shitty product
> then start larping about their growth hacks
> tell VCs they have a unique wedge because of twitter
and this pattern is consistent lol

Half the AI tools shipping this week exist because the model has a quota problem. The startup pipeline right now is just quota debugging with a website. Investors are funding my API bill.

Burned through Claude, Codex, and Minimax subs in under a week running multi-agent builds. At some point the limit isn't model IQ, it's how much of your workflow the model can eat before the meter runs.

Every time a coding agent has burnt me, it's been the same thing. It made a tradeoff for me, and I didn't have the knowledge to spot the bad call until it had already cost me.
That's the whole point. The agent will happily decide for you. Whether it's a good decision comes down to whether you even knew the tradeoff was there.
Fundamentals aren't optional. They're my steering wheel.

three hours into a pgvector bug today where semantic search was ranking an obvious wrong match above the right one. while I was debugging, "AI killed coding" was trending. the irony isn't subtle.

If you're building with LLMs and keep hitting walls with retrieval or agent orchestration, check out @Al_Grigor 's "From RAG to Agents" bootcamp. There's a scholarship too, so worth a look.

The only catch is trying to acquire those VPSs.
You need to have a PAYGO account. You won't be able to get that without having your credit card details in.
It is very hard to acquire those VPS. I had to set up a script using Claude Code that ran continuously for me to acquire one of those. After attempting for an hour or so, it was able to acquire one of those VPSs.

Today I learned Oracle has an "Always Free" VPS.
Specs:
- 2 OCPU Ampere A1
- 12 GB
- 200 GB block
- 10 TB egress
How have I not known about this... what's the catch?

ISTG, all these Instagram creators on Reels are like, “Comment ‘GUIDE’ and I’ll send you the guide.”
Why are you gatekeeping it?
If you’re actually interested in helping people and building a community, just share the damn resource in the post.

Caught a bug in my job scoring rubric. A '3+ years' posting was scoring within 3 points of a '0-2 years' one, so a strong stack match quietly outweighed a senior-level mismatch. Two adjacent bands at ~3 apart is a feature for the LLM, not a bug.

For context, I am building an LLM scraper, and here is the public dashboard of each and every job it has scraped till now which are still active. jobhunter.hunainadhikari.com
And I also have a personalized dashboard where each job is scored against my resume for a match.

Is it just me, or is the Canadian tech market cooked for junior-level developers? I got rejected for a job where the requirements stated 1-3 years of experience, and the recruiter told me we are looking for someone with more senior-level experience for this role.

Lately, I have been hearing a lot of buzz that it is easier to get hired on X(Twitter) compared to LinkedIn or any other platform. Let's see how it works out for me.

Every AI infra post says 'you need distributed systems expertise.' Then your Lambda concurrency limit goes from 50 to 1,000 and half your 'resilience patterns' become elaborate nothing. Your distributed systems expertise quietly becomes a liability.
