Long answer: our metrics do not give credit to punters for muffed punts because historically this is not something that punters can consistently repeat. Even punters known for having many "clubs in their bag" (ie Sam Koch) did not induce muffs at an interestingly higher rate

Now if it gets to be week 8 and Tory Taylor is still generating 1-2 muffs a game on banana balls, we may reconsider. Until then, we'll still care way more about punting the ball as far as possible. And you should too.
