At Friday's Artemis briefing, NASA said Starship won't just land astronauts. For Artemis IV it will dock with Orion in high Earth orbit and push it to low lunar orbit.
Orion is being modified to be pushed. NASA's program manager said it will "drastically simplify" the number of launches.
Before that, summer 2027: Artemis III. Four astronauts, 14 days in Earth orbit, docking with a Starship test article.
