More on Bort Escoto, Sylmar HS head coach now in his 33rd year (!) and longest-tenured City Section coach, who just led the Spartans to the Division Two championship with "the old Loyola Marymount offense"
Great article from @latsondheimer from February:

Congrats to Palisades on winning the Open division, but Steve also put a nice spotlight on Sylmar winning Division II under Bort Escoto, now in his 33rd year!
Instituted the “old Loyola Marymount offense” after Christmas and the team went on an incredible run. Congrats to the Spartans.

Sylmar in a CIF State final. Bort Escoto has been the head coach for 33 years.
Says they take the ball out of the net and throw it down the floor like old LMU teams.
San Marin stands in the way. DV final coming up

Sylmar's Bort Escoto won his 4th City title in 33 years. First came in 1998 — a 28-year window. But not the longest.

Ed Azzam, Westchester: 1991/2020.
“It’s like your first born, it holds a special place in your heart,” Escoto said jokingly.

Sylmar opens with 63-55 win over Dorsey. Season No. 30 for Bort Escoto (I lost the bet he'd last this long). Gabe Sidon 23 points and Joe Dickson 15 points.
