El Niño is still strengthening as winter approaches, with potential for the strongest event on record since 1950.
But no two strong El Niños have played out alike. Cold snaps still hit inside mild winters, and in Europe the link is much weaker. For traders positioning through 27, and anyone managing winter fuel supply, the seasonal average only tells part of the story.
Join us for our 2026-27 Winter Weather Outlook webinar with insights from our expert meteorologists: a region-by-region view of the season, the week-to-week swings the seasonal average hides, and live Q&A.

This graphic compares forecasts of Isaias’s strength, showing differences across ensemble systems alongside Spire’s High-Resolution Forecast and NHC wind guidance. For utilities, energy traders, and agricultural operators, that uncertainty matters when planning for potential disruptions, and field operations.

The flyover before the flyover — from 400 miles up. Tomorrow, the Wings of Blue parachute team will soar over Falcon Stadium, while Spire’s satellites are already orbiting hundreds of miles higher, reading the atmosphere.

Our team left London energized by the conversations, connections, and ideas shared during Energy Trading Week Europe.
One takeaway that stayed with us: As AI makes weather models and software more accessible, differentiated data matters even more. So does knowing when a forecast Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Spire stand, met with our team, or joined us for a demo, and to the @Commodities_Ppl team for bringing together such an engaged community.
If we missed you in London, we’d love to connect. Book a meeting with our team: hubs.li/Q04yB3SH0

Day 2 of Energy Trading Week Europe starts now. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand yesterday for great conversations, meetings, and a closer look at how space-based data is changing weather forecasting for traders.
In case you missed it: Tom Gowan, Ph.D., Spire's diction and AI, joined yesterday’s panel "Managing Large Renewable Portfolios: Evolving Practices for Scale." His key point was that as AI commoditizes weather models and software, proprietary data becomes the real forecasting edge.
That's exactly what we're showing on Day 2. Stop by Stand 6 to say hello, catch a live demo, and see how Spire's satellite observations sharpen forecasts out to 46 days.
See weather differently. That's your alpha.

We’re proud to announce Spire has been awarded a two-year, $33.2 million contract by @NOAA to provide global navigation satellite system radio occultation (GNSS-RO) data, including RO profiles with Temporal Resolution Enhancements.
The award was made under Task Order 1 of NOAA’s al Monitoring Multiple-Award IDIQ contract, which has a shared $8 billion ceiling.
Beyond this, Spire was selected under the IDIQ and is eligible for future task orders to provide GNSS reflectometry, hyperspectral microwave sounding, and thermospheric neutral density data.

As AI commoditizes models and software, proprietary data is becoming increasingly valuable.@SpireGlobal is well positioned as a world leader in satellite weather observations, including GNSS-Radio Occultation (RO) and GNSS-Reflectometry (GNSS-R). We also recently launched the tral microwave sounder (HyMS) into orbit. RO and microwave sounding data are among the most important data sources for weather prediction. HyMS adds richer temperature and moisture measurements, while RO provides a stable reference for correcting microwave biases.
Our data is trusted by NOAA and EUMETSAT who purchase and distribute roughly half our RO observations, which are operationally assimilated into most public weather models worldwide. Our own assimilation systems ingest the full set at lower latency. Years of data assimilation expertise allow us to extract more information from these observations, producing richer atmospheric analyses more frequently than public forecasting centers. These analyses feed a modeling suite delivering world-class accuracy, from high-resolution short-range forecasts to large sub-seasonal ensembles. Our Power Generation Forecasts translate weather into expected wind and solar output. Cirrus, our weather intelligence platform, helps traders and other energy-market participants compare Spire and public forecasts, understand uncertainty and assess portfolio risk.
I’ll discuss this at Energy Trading Week Europe in London on Thursday 24 September, on the panel “Managing large renewable portfolios: Evolving practices for scale” at 2:30 pm BST in Room 2. Join the discussion, or stop by booth 6 to meet me and the Spire team for a live demo.

Game day weather, powered by Spire: Navy vs. Towson
New this season as part of our sponsorship of @NavyAthletics , Spire is bringing space-based weather intelligence to game day — forecasting the weather for Navy football games.
This Saturday, September 5, Navy opens its inst Towson (3:30 p.m. ET, Annapolis), under partly to mostly cloudy skies, low 80s, and a slight chance (10%-20%) of a brief, passing shower.

Energy and commodity traders hedging weather-driven risk. Agriculture teams planning around temperature and precipitation swings. Government agencies pre-positioning resources before a crisis hits. All of them need the same thing: probabilistic forecasts up to 6 weeks out, al models lose their edge.
Spire's AI-S2S closes that gap, outperforming ECMWF S2S on surface temperatures by 14.76%*, weeks 3-6, exactly where your book is exposed.
Reserve your spot for our upcoming webinar, including a demo of our data live on the @EarthmoverHQ Marketplace and Q&A, Sept 10 & 17: bit.ly/4zEMC9z
