Happy 3-year birthday, Alan Wake II ❤️
We weren't even supposed to have a sequel, but @remedygames still delivered another instant classic.
I need to replay it again soon.

Day 3 of #SaveMassEffect.
Mass Effect is a rich, diverse universe filled with interesting stories and characters, and more than anything, it is a SINGLE-PLAYER experience, a genre that actually costs less because it's finite compared to a live-service game.

Day 2 of #SaveMassEffect.
Did you know it only cost $40 million to make Mass Effect 3? That's relatively inexpensive compared to many live-service games that got taken down within a month.
Why wouldn't @EA invest in something that sells?

For everyone saying, "give up on Mass Effect, EA won't sell it, it's over," I have two things to say to you:
1) there is precedent here for reviving an IP that was deemed "over";
2) shut up, you big, stupid jellyfish.

Alright. My plan is to release the re-scored Mass Effect Universe trailer for N7 Day. A little tight, since I'm a bit busy pitching for a new game, but I'll see what I can do! I don't wanna rush it, and I want it to properly represent my musical vision for MEU.

Mass Effect was my ultimate white whale, my all-time dream project. For the last couple years I'd been in discussion w/ BioWare & EA to take on the project & as part of that I wrote close to 20 minutes of music to explore where the franchise can go next, may as well share it!

"The Music That Might Have Been"
Austin Wintory, renowned composer behind games like Journey, releases 22 minutes of early Mass Effect 5 musical drafts from his pitch to compose the game:
"Working on Mass Effect 5 was my career's biggest dream project, my white whale. It is my ll time, and for the last couple years I'd been in serious conversations with BioWare and EA to jump in.
My suggestion was to treat the original game's masterful Jack Wall/Sam Hulick score as a starting point, and to build on it from there with deeper use of physical, analog synths and a more tightly interwoven use of the orchestra. But a love letter first and foremost (not unlike my approach to the Aliens franchise with Fireteam Elite).
As part of the ongoing dialogue, I decided last year (2025) to surprise the folks with an elaborate production: nearly 20 minutes of music, fully recorded and produced with synths, vocals and a large orchestra here in LA. I'd not yet learned any narrative details of what they were planning so this was just pure musical exploration.
Receiving the news alongside everyone else that EA had decided to not only cancel the project but shutdown BioWare entirely was a deeply felt loss. It's been hard to see dear friends lose their jobs, and this beloved franchise seemingly vanish forever.
Thank you nonetheless to everyone at BioWare and EA's music department for gifting me the chance to dream in your sandbox. It was a privilege to do even that much."

The job market is… brutal. I've been getting a lot of interviews lately that fizzle out before the end. It's highly demotivating, and tbh I think I'm just going to eat a brownie and game for the rest of the day.
