Cowboys owner Jerry Jones passionately rejected the narrative that he won't pay top dollar for a premier head coach when joining @OThankKevin, @inthemageors and @AlecOnTheRadio:
"No one will ever know if I've ever been interested in somebody that at the time was known to have, e financial marketplace.
No one will ever know. Well, the facts are I have been out there, and I have been trying to lure very successful coaches away from the teams they were on. And knew full well that I was going to pay them for all their success...
It is absolutely ridiculous, and I actually grin when somebody says, 'Jerry's not willing to pay the money to get the right kind of coach out there...'
I have five wells that cost more than any coach I know of, each one of them, in the NFL."

Dak Prescott says he talks to Brian Schottenheimer throughout the game but needs to be specific sometimes, such as when he believes they lacked aggressiveness on final possession of regulation in loss to Cardinals.
“I think it's something I've done. I don't think it's it's it's ans. I was just more answering the being aggressive question, more than like plays aren't getting called that I want. No, none of that… My point is maybe you know before that. whether it be just some encouragement, but like “Hey, let's go put these guys away; let's go put one in the end zone.” That maybe could go a long way.”

So I asked if it was frustrating to not be GOTI when it's crunch time, when it's time to win the game like last week against the Cardinals?
“Yeah, I mean it's frustrating. That's what you're asking? Yeah, absolutely. It's frustrating and just to your point of whether it's us hard or whatever it may be, when you have the standards and expectations to go out there and to score every play and you're not doing that, yeah, it's frustrating. And each and every guy, I'd be lying to you off if I didnt say guys feel that and each and every guy feels it in their own way. And especially crunch time when you want to go win and you want to go win it on your terms and you don't get that done and you put your defense in a tough situation, yeah, it's frustrating but more importantly, it's about finding solutions to it and frustration doesn't get you anywhere. So it's about coming in, as I said, us game planning and going out there and more importantly, it's about Sunday.
It's about continuing the things that we've talked about or that we've planned all week and making sure that we stick to that then.”

Christian Parker on CB DaRon Bland: "I think we need more from him. He knows that. We've got some good talks about that. I think he's battling. The frustrating thing I know for him and for us is there's been a lot of snaps where he's been close, the catches are contested. So now it's about just that final piece of just finishing those plays. And again, corner's a position where 49 snaps can be right, but one of them can be wrong and you're in the spotlight in that regard. So just keeping his head in terms of doing that and just keep chipping away. Still got confidence in him that he's going to. He's had some good performances this year, so we just got to get back to making that consistent."

Brian Schottenheimer was asked about the Cowboys' effort in their 3-5 start to the season.
"It's not an effort issue. It's an execution issue. That starts with me as a head coach," Schottenheimer said. "I'm responsible for everything that happens here. Our execution has to get cleaner and what we have to do is we have to be able to put some of these close games away that we've unfortunately let slip away from us. And that comes down to execution."

Wow. So will it be Prescott vs Milton here in a few weeks?
A QB change in Philadelphia: the Eagles are naming Joe Milton their starting QB and benching Tanner McKee for Sunday’s game vs. the Giants, per @MikeGarafolo and me.

Roughly 1/4 of U.S. data-center capacity projected to come online by 2030 is in Texas. If the state's next governor is Democrat Gina Hinojosa, who supports a moratorium, some 13.3 gigawatts of announced projects would be at risk, Jefferies projects. wsj.com/finance/stocks…

I’m not sure what I love more. Sports twitter or political twitter.
I can’t stop. Political junkie. Extreme niche interest. My forever passion.
It’s human psychology, strategy, art of war, messaging. It’s fascinating to me. Then add in savage satire? I don’t want to laugh we are voting on the drivers of this country but adults left the room a long time ago in DC

Jerry Jones on @1053thefan about concerns that Brian Schottenheimer had a conservative playcalling strategy.
“We were playing a game to avoid turnovers the best we could. The gameplan you saw was doing that. You can call that conservative if you want to. The game plan was based on us running the ball better than when we ran it. And when they did stack it really good … it’s certainly based on us giving [Dak Prescott] better protection.”
The Cowboys won the turnover differential, but lost the game.

I called the agent of a veteran coach to see if Jerry Jones had even picked up the phone and poked around on him during the Schottenheimer hiring cycle and he laughed and said “Jerry won’t pay 13M and up and that’s the starting point”
It’s well known and well documented just surprised he actually finally said it on record today.
