We closed out UN Week with a warm evening in New York, cohosted with @MoCTI_SL last Friday.

Our founder @realyanxin joined Chief Minister @dsengeh, Minister @SalimaMBah, Ambassador Dr. Abu Bakarr Karim, @ChristexFndn founder @c_ogoo, and many friends to reflect on our journey comes next.

We and Sierra Leone are thinking much bigger.

Stablecoins already move value globally. The next step is bringing local currencies onto rails people already use.

That means settlement, wallets, liquidity, exchanges and payments all working together.

@Sign’s sovereign stablecoin framework shows how public networks like BNB distribution layer while governments keep control of the currency.

A sovereign stablecoin needs more than a token contract.

It needs issuance and reserves, settlement and liquidity, distribution, fiat connectivity, and compliance working as one operating stack.

Here’s how the pieces fit together 👇

Why are governments talking about sovereign stablecoins now?

Three signals are converging:
→ Cross-border payments are still expensive
→ Dollar stablecoins move globally, but local currency access remains fragmented
→ Digital reach is growing faster than banking access
lecoin framework breaks down what’s driving the shift.

A sovereign stablecoin is only useful if people and institutions can actually hold, move and use it.

At @EASYResidency, @nina_rong shared how public networks like BNB Chain can provide settlement and distribution, while governments and regulated institutions keep control over supervision.

Putting a national currency onchain is not modernization. Modernization means making money measurably easier to use.

KGST, the national stablecoin in Kyrgyzstan, takes this approach from theory to a working system.

Public authorities set the rules. Local financial institutions hold the reserves and handle fiat. Sign provides the infrastructure that connects the parts. BNB Chain provides the public settlement layer.

It is not a blueprint for every country, but a working model for countries considering their own sovereign stablecoin.

A stablecoin like this needs reserves, redemption, and oversight. Someone must be accountable for each. So who decides, and who executes?

Public authorities set the mandate, including issuer standards, reserve and redemption requirements, and supervision. Licensed institutions ners build and operate within that framework.

Sovereignty means retaining control over the rules, not building every component yourself.

A sovereign stablecoin is more than a token.

It needs a clear claim, credible reserves, reliable redemption, settlement, liquidity, compliance, and fiat connectivity.

The token is the interface. The system behind it creates the trust.

The onchain rail is global. The currency, gateway, and regulatory control stay local.

A sovereign stablecoin gives you both.

Open and vendor-neutral infrastructure is critical as tokenization moves from experiments to real-world financial and public-sector deployment.

As more assets move on-chain, interoperability, transparency, and open standards become increasingly important.
