Why Lorain County Community College you ask? Let’s answer that. #JucoBandits #AnchorDown
FAQs: Commodore ⚾️ Recruiting 👀
1. I'm a 2026 HS grad with dreams in college baseball. Are you recruiting my class?
- Yes! We're aggressively scouting top talent across all positions for our Fall 2026 roster.
2. I was told that JUCO doesn’t count toward my NCAA 4-year ue?
- This is 100% FALSE. No such rule exists. JUCO does indeed count toward your 4-year NCAA eligibility.
3. Is JUCO baseball similar to NCAA baseball?
- Yes, we have a fall development season, a winter offseason, and an official spring season. We even play our games on fields and wear uniforms too! However, JUCO has far less practice-time and playing restrictions. Fewer restrictions mean more hands-on coaching, personalized development, and faster growth. It's demanding, very hard, and not for everyone.
4. What's the fall season like at LCCC?
- We believe our spring success is built on the foundation of our fall developmental season and winter offseason.
- Duration: The fall developmental season lasts for 8 weeks, 5-6 days a week. Players follow our intense fall lifting program integrated into our practices 3x weekly.
- Training: We focus on individual and team skill work, play scrimmage dates against all types of competition, and compete internally as a program with intrasquad scrimmages.
- Offseason S&C: Post-fall, we ramp up our strength and conditioning program. We kick off with performance testing, assessing players’ baseline strength, speed, and agility through key performance indicators (KPIs). Next, we dive into the first phase of our offseason lifting program. After winter break, we retest all KPIs to track your progress. For the first 3-4 weeks of our offseason S&C program (November–January), we ask players to pause hitting and throwing to focus entirely on building physical dominance. This is the only time all year we can prioritize the weight room over baseball skill, and we make every rep count to maximize your development as a player.
5. Who does LCCC play in the fall?
- Due to the coaching change, we have 5 scrimmage dates this fall. Next year, we plan on having that number increased to 8-10 dates.
- We want to play the best regional competition because that’s ultimately how we get better. Also, with playing high-quality college baseball programs, we are able to expose our current players to potential future 4-year destinations.
- We can play NCAA Division 1, 2, & 3 programs, NAIA, other JUCOs, and 18u Fall Organizations.
6. What are the athletic facilities like at LCCC?
- WE DO NOT HAVE A BASEBALL FIELD ON CAMPUS. We have a big and beautiful athletic field house, full weight room, and plenty of expansive outdoor spaces on campus.
- While not having a field on campus isn’t ideal, we will always make sure that our players have the best possible fields to call home. We are very fortunate and grateful to get to call both Crushers Stadium (home of the Lake Erie Crushers pro team) and The Pipeyard – one of Ohio's premier baseball venues, our home fields!
7. What can you offer about the academics at LCCC?
- We have a beautiful campus that provides students with a "university" feel. We offer a wide range of academic programs that cater to diverse career goals, providing flexibility for student-athletes to pursue their interests while maintaining their athletic commitments. Please check out our academic course catalog located on our school website.
- As an accredited institution, our strong academic reputation ensures credits transfer seamlessly to 4-year schools, setting you up for success on and off the field.
8. What is the approximate tuition to attend LCCC as a full-time student-athlete?
Affordable and accessible, before any financial aid:
- In-state, Lorain County resident: $4,525
- In-state, non-Lorain County resident: $5,200
- Out-of-state: $9,120
- Approximately 80% of students receive some type of financial aid in the form of grants and scholarships.
9. LCCC hasn’t had a winning season in over 20 years. What’s different now?
- Top-notch school and athletic department support, including having an athletic director with 15+ years of college head baseball coach experience.
- A committed and driven coaching staff with a wide variety of knowledge and experience. Our staff consists of: Professional & D1 experiences, successful high school head and assistant coach experiences, and experience with top summer baseball organizations. I was fortunate enough to be apart of a JUCO program that experienced #1 rankings in multiple national offensive statistical categories. All of these experiences are rooted in one trait: WINNING.
- Competitive facilities and strong academic reputation.
This isn't a rebuild – it's a revolution. It's going to take ball players who truly LOVE what they do to cause a generational change. We want guys who are passionate about their work, carry themselves with a positive presence, and go about their business with a purpose. It's not for everyone, and that's what makes it special.

FAQs: Commodore ⚾️ Recruiting 👀
2027 Class | Fall 2027 Roster
1. I’m a 2027 HS grad. Are you recruiting my class?
Yes. We’re recruiting all positions for Fall 2027, and we keep a small roster (33 on current roster) on purpose. More reps. More coaching. More playing time o means a limited number of offers. We currently have 2 commitments for the fall of 2027.
2. I was told JUCO doesn’t count toward NCAA eligibility. Is that true?
100% FALSE. NCAA Division I/II now uses an age-based model: up to 5 seasons inside a 5-year window. Full-time enrollment at a junior college starts that clock. JUCO time counts.
3. What’s the fall season like at LCCC?
We define our program core value Drive as "the relentless pursuit of excellence." We believe spring success can only be achieved through maximum effort drive during the fall and winter.
Fall runs approximately 8 weeks, 5–6 days a week. Lifting this fall is 2 full-body days per week, built into the weekly practice plan around individual skill work, team offense & defense work, and competition.
When players report, we baseline test them on: bat-sensor data, throwing velocity, video data points, medicine ball throws, sprints, agilities, jumps, and multiple isometric strength tests. We re-test at the end of fall, and again in January.
4. Who does LCCC play in the fall?
Last fall, because of the coaching change, we had 5 dates. This fall we have 10 dates against top NCAA, NAIA, and JUCO programs from within our region.
We schedule high-level regional opponents because that’s how we get better, and because those games put our current guys in front of potential future homes. See graphic below for our current fall schedule.
5. What are the athletic facilities like at LCCC?
We do not have a baseball field on campus. We do have a large athletic field house, a full weight room, and plenty of outdoor space.
No on-campus field isn’t ideal. We still will not let our players play on average fields. Our Spring home is ForeFront Field, the home of the Lake Erie Crushers. Our home during the fall and for some of the spring is The Pipe Yard. Both are located in Lorain County. Both are beautiful facilities! ForeFront is an all-turf professional stadium. The Pipe Yard holds a turf infield, lights, and a grandstands. We are very fortunate to call both places home.
6. What about academics at LCCC?
"University-feel" campus. Wide range of programs. Full accreditation.
This part is new, and it is a big deal:
LCCC is a FINALIST for the 2027 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence, the most prestigious community-college honor in the country.
1 of 10 finalists nationally.
The only school in Ohio.
The first Ohio community college ever to reach this stage.
Fewer than 1% of community colleges get here. If you are investing two years in a classroom and a transfer path, that recognition matters.
7. What’s tuition for a full-time student-athlete?
Before financial aid (2026–27):
Lorain County resident: about $4,785
Ohio resident, outside Lorain County: about $5,440
Out-of-state: about $9,380
Depending on where you are from, academic performance data, etc., you may receive financial aid. Roughly 80% of students receive grants or scholarships.
8. LCCC baseball program has a history of losing. What's different now?
That's 100% correct. LCCC is the most losing program in our conference in recent history. After 1 year with our staff, we accomplished:
- 15 wins, most by LCCC as an NJCAA program
- We played the most games in program history
- We set a school-record 3 All-OCCAC honorees, including the DIII OCCAC Player of the Year
- Won our first 4-game series since 2022
- Established program's first fall development season and winter offseason programming.
A generational change requires a generational-sized effort from all involved. Making this size of an impact on a program and community takes really hard work, and it's not for everyone. Year 1 set the foundation for this new era of Commodore baseball. We believe the best is yet to come.
If you believe you're a ballplayer cut out for this generational change, contact any of our coaches!
Love. Endure. Act. Drive.

Increased average bat speed to 75 mph since joining us in January. Gap to Gap hitter with backside-gap juice. He’d be the first to tell you he’s got more in the tank.
