The entire comment section here is full of AI evangelists.

I systematically asked every single one of them for a SINGULAR example of what they espouse to be common fact, "How does AI amplify gamedev?".

NOT A SINGLE ONE has given an example.

The AI hype for gamedev is the most bizarre thing I've ever seen.
Xbox strategy manager Brandon Stirrup has deleted his X account after facing a lot of backlash over his recent comments about AI in game development.

Stirrup had spoken openly about Xbox using AI and said developers who refuse to embrace AI shouldn鈥檛 be in the business of making it because of the large number of replies he was getting.

There are also claims that Microsoft isn鈥檛 happy about the situation and that it has caused some internal discussion

@SeaCritDevit allows me to accomplish things I wouldn't have attempted previously, mostly as components that I'll use in my games, not the games themselves.

I've also decided not to use any AI in some of the games I'm making because it would just make a mess of things.

It's all about balance, and managing expectations. There's good stuff there, but it's not a panacea.

@JasconiusGamesught me worked up responding to AI glazers who think AAA is going to leverage AI to make the next great game.

I don't think people should feel ANY shame using AI. it's an INCREDIBLE learning tool, use it to learn the dark arts of gamedev that this shitty industry kept chained in a cave in a basement.

There's lots of things AI does very well, and MOST OF ALL it does a great job of helping people learn gamedev!

@SeaCritDev It's a nuanced topic and I see both sides lose touch with that nuance.

I'm not at all worried about AAA using it. With how much dead weight is in these studios, it'll just accelerate and exacerbate the slop they're already putting out.

At the end of the day, AI will only be effective in the hands of someone who is able to make cool games without it.

@JasconiusGames I worry AAA will use AI to dig the hole even deeper.

I WANT AAA to do well, I WANT people to have good paying jobs making cool stuff, and doing good work

It drives me crazy that after the past 10 years of social decay we're now in this AI fueled fever dream.

@SeaCritDev I want AAA to fail and for Indies and AA to replace them.

This industry used to have consequences for making bad games, but now that it's mainstream, there's enough tourists for that system to be broken.

Time to bring it back.

@JasconiusGames the same thing. I don't want existing AAA to get a lifeline, just a bunch of back screatcher douchers who exploit people to have a lifeline.

But I DO want big teams, and big games and huge games we can rally around again like WOW, or HALO or DOTA, and things like this.

I miss having a culture and a world where many people get to CONTRIBUTE to these tihngs in a real and empassioned way.

Not playing patty cake, not as a pity hire in some billionaires grand social engineering scheme to impress their cocktail friends.
