When you thought 2020 couldn't get worse. @NatureComms wants you to hold their beer: "Female scientists, in fact, may benefit from opposite-gender mentorships in terms of their publication potential and impact throughout their post-mentorship careers."
We're aware of the concerns raised regarding the publication of this paper go.nature.com/36OLKm5. We thank those who've contacted us about this issue & we're looking into it as a matter of priority. @NatureComms strongly believes in & supports equality and diversity in research

A thought about scientific meetings in person. They are also a support group! I miss talking to colleagues about science, but also about everything lab-related that is not science (mentoring, career, admin, teaching, life). I miss you all!

Feeling connected to the @UCLAMBI community. Eager and excited to hear about the awesome science being done by my fellow peers!
Attending the @UCLAMBI first virtual retreat for the next two days! Wonderful job by the student organizers, which include the Butler lab's own Yesica Mercado-Ayon. Thank you!

Congratulations to Dr. @JasmineDBowers, the first Black PhD-holder in computer science to graduate from @UF! She says it all started in childhood, when her engineer mother helped her learn Microsoft Excel and encouraged her to embrace technology. ow.ly/mD9O50AZWva
