Brew??Google???
Google is responsible for the Binance hack. It’s impossible to know how many people out there have compromised Homebrew installations.

Googling for Homebrew should show you Homebrew not obvious malware that Google’s vast resources could easily have identified as such.

Android CredentialManager won't pop the Google account setup screen like the old SDK did.
If the device has no Google account, you just get a NoCredentialException.

You must catch the exception and handle the fallback yourself. Sad 😔

This code is apparently supposed to propagate an exception back to the caller.

Since its signature does not mention anything to do with the exception, the caller will have to crash first to know that an exception is hidden in its function body.

I had the pleasure of watching Sicario (the first Sicario) over the weekend.
It’s beautifully shot and has a quacky protagonist as side character setup that increases anticipation.

I hear there are a few sequels, will check them out next weekend

addJavascriptInterface is catastrophically insecure.

Any public method on an injected Java object (including getClass()) is callable from JavaScript, leading to full remote code execution (CVE-2012-6636, CVE-2013-4710 cve.org/CVERecord?id=C…)
Are we seriously encouraging people to use WebView in 2026? For auth nonetheless?

I thought WebView was this attack surface that could enable remote code execution on your app through the JS-Android layer that it provides?

Google killed legacy signin, in favour of Credentials Manager (as is tradition for Google).

These enhancements could well have fit in the legacy GoogleSignIn SDK for Android but Google just gotta kill things that people depend upon.

The first chapter on “Strategic Assessment” relentlessly emphasizes prioritizing analysis and evaluation before action, being aware of deceptive patterns and making an impersonal assessment of yourself as well as the challenge/opponent.

The translator’s introduction is very detailed and still very condensed with references to Sun’s wisdom as well as links to other eastern scholars such as the authors of Taoism and Buddhist philosophy.

Many references to I Ching (The Book of Changes) and Bushido, Samurai code

When my schedule clears up, I’m definitely revisiting this one

Their temp fix also fails to work with xcode cloud, creating new levels of pain but there seems to be a way of making xcode cloud aware of a bash script that can declare the minos version for an ext library.
github.com/microsoft/onnx…
This seems like something that should just be patched into the current library version, considering the PR that fixes it is already merged.

The xcode run script work around is also not reliable, also it's Microsoft lol.

I was excited to read the forward by Kwame Nkrumah.

However, after reading I felt a wave of sadness because of how relevant Kwame’s words are to the present day, concerning neocolonialism and imperialism

He implores Africa to unite and militaries, to defend against imperialism

The more Apple says they've fixed this bug the more I see it reappear.

I think their coding agent told them its fixed, then they immediately moved to add it to their WWDC Xcode announcements.

This was a fun read
I didn’t like the part about the C++ RAII wrapper strategies, mainly because of how diabetic C++ has proven to be.

I wouldn’t mind replicating similar wrappers in Swift.
I’m officially super obsessed with SQLite’s C interface

I've experience a few of these while bridging C with Swift, despite Swift providing a very comprehensive and seamless FFI bridge.

Object lifetime management is perhaps the most difficult and one area things can go sideways.

However, consistently writing defensive code helps.

unsafe unsafe ...
Swift really wants you to keep saying unsafe but does that make things safe?...actually no.

There is even an @ safe annotation for decorating functions that contain unsafe operations just so that your callers don't have to keep screaming unsafe. lol

@mureithi_me @iamukasa the language designers believed that there is enough context to implicitly declare the variable, i.e the catch block.

I understand your reservations and desire for something more explicit, however the language still allows you to explicitly declare the error like so

Swift's UnsafePointer<T> allows you to interop with C functions that expect const T * pointers as function args, for example passing an address to a Swift array

Swift will implicitly convert arrays to UnsafePointer, but the programmer can also explicitly declare the pointer

3. Client Code `main.c`

The user can declare the pointer and pass it to functions, but attempting to execute `p->health = 100` directly will result in a compiler error "dereferencing pointer to incomplete type".
