When severe weather, wildfire conditions or other emergencies threaten communities, power outages can create immediate challenges for residents. Recognizing the importance of accessible, trusted places where people can turn when electricity is unavailable, the San Bernardino ering with Southern California Edison (SCE) to make select library locations available as community resource centers during designated Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) events. 💡
The partnership provides another layer of community support during emergencies when power may be intentionally shut off as a precaution. For residents experiencing an outage, an activated library location can provide a familiar and accessible place to stay connected and access designated information and resources.
