Hey X, I'm Ryan 👋

Originally from Philly, now in San Francisco studying law at UC Law SF.

Before law school, I worked in music, film, and entertainment. These days I'm interested in startups, AI, corporate law, and how technology is changing the way we do business.

Would love tech, law, AI, and the startup world. If that's you, say hi 👋

Friday night well spent learning about open source AI and chatting with interesting people! Thank you @open_intel_fdn @matthew_d_white @yujian_tang @fdotinc @ekang426 🎉 And @IreneSolaiman for casually speaking in publishable paragraphs while I’m still assembling a sentence out .”

day 5 of 30 days of @boardyai

turns out "hi i'm a law student looking for opportunities" is a great way to end a conversation

so i changed the pitch. i'm good at tax and figuring out how a business actually makes money. i read nintendo, starbucks and costco annual reports for fun. that's the pitch now

still don't know what role fits me. still don't know if any of this works. 25 days to find out

describe what you're actually good at in one line. mine is "unreasonably into costco's margins" 🤓

day 4 of 30 days of @boardyai

goal is still five real conversations with people who could hire me in may 2027. current count: zero. here's what i've sent so far

- dm'd a guy i've been arguing with on X about legal AI. could go either way
- messaged a partner at a startup venture practice
- messaged a stanford JD who used to run an accelerator
- got an intro request out to a growth lead at a YC company
- went to an AI talk at the presidio on a school night

taking bets on who replies first. drop your pick below. winner gets nothing, same as me so far 🤓

For as great as AI is there is a lot of BS…being true to yourself if the most valuable commodity

day 3 of 30 days of @boardyai

the goal: five real conversations with founders, hiring managers, or partners who could actually hire me when i graduate in may 2027

third year at UC Law SF, tax concentration, based in san francisco. i want my legal background to be useful on the business side. biz dev, legal tech, business-oriented law. anything that isn't billing in six minute increments

cold applications have gotten me nothing this year. every real conversation came from an intro

so if you know someone, are someone, or once jogged next to someone with a cap table, reply or dm me 🤓

Has California’s Proposition 40 inadvertently pushed more billionaires into politics who otherwise would’ve stayed on the sidelines?

and can Congress constitutionally hamstring California's healthcare system through Medicaid funding conditions?

The OBBBA's restrictions on provider taxes raise an interesting federalism question: How much autonomy do states really have when Washington controls the matching funds?

Status report, day 2 of 30 Days of @boardyai:

Invited to a paid meetup group.
Payment is optional.
I have nothing.

Only in SF does the paywall come with an opt-out and I still can't clear it.

@owengretzinger how's your day 2 going

How do I become the final boss of SF?

So far I have:

- Already done some work at Corgi Cafe
- Gone to multiple Luma events and left with tote bags and continuous unemployment/student status
- Had coffee chats that turned into more coffee chats

What's the next level

An AI-native console should be able to run everything from Pong to GTA 6.

No ports. No remasters. No worrying about backward compatibility.

If AI can understand decades of legacy banking code, why couldn't it eventually translate decades of video games?

The console becomes the last one you'd ever need.

My cold applications have mostly gone nowhere.

Every real conversation I've had this year came from someone introducing me.

So I stopped applying and started showing up. Founder events in SF, and 30 Days of @boardyai to meet the people building things.

In 1974, James Taylor used one of the strangest, most beautiful instruments I've ever heard on a folk record.

It sounds like a choir and an organ had a baby.

And the craziest part? He barely uses it.

Listen to the ending of "Daddy's Baby" from Walking Man.

What fascinates me isn't just the instrument. It's how beautifully it works against Taylor's acoustic guitar, moving bass lines, and folk counterpoint.

There's something almost otherworldly about that combination.

And then the song ends. That's it!

@JamesTaylor_com @RecordingAcad — has anyone explored this sound since 1974?

I'm a composer and would love to collaborate with someone on a modern take.

Who should I be talking to?
