Lyndon Johnson declared war on poverty in January 1964, and poverty promptly won.

The Office of Economic Opportunity launched that same year, spending $800 million in its first year alone. By 1980, the federal government had spent over $3 trillion (in today's dollars) across the Society programs: Medicaid, food stamps, housing subsidies, community action agencies, the whole apparatus. The poverty rate in 1964 sat at 19 percent. By 1973, it had fallen to 11 percent. Impressive, until you notice it was already falling at precisely that rate throughout the 1950s, before Johnson spent a single dollar.

The market was already doing the job.

What Johnson created was a dependency infrastructure. The Aid to Families with Dependent Children program paid higher benefits when no father lived in the household, which subsidized his departure.

Between 1965 and 1980, out-of-wedlock births among black Americans climbed from 25 percent to 56 percent. Charles Murray documented the numbers exhaustively in "Losing Ground" (1984), and the left never refuted the math; instead, they attacked Murray personally.

Bureaucracies administer poverty rather than eliminate it. Every dollar Washington sends to a poor family in Chicago passes through a federal agency, a state agency, a county office, and a caseworker's desk first. The machinery consumes a stunning share before anything reaches you.

Capital formation, voluntary exchange, and sound money pulled more people out of destitution in the 19th century than every federal program combined has since Johnson's cameras rolled in the Rose Garden.

And they did so love their trampoline.
IDF are now destroying homes in Hebron, where the two terrorists were from, and they just started. More to come in Judea and Samaria.

Interesting that Google is making it impossible to view the Ramaswamy ad.

I think it is very significant that her mom did this. Even if mom is not 100% accurate, voters deserve to know that a candidate asking for their vote is evidently not even capable of having a civilized relationship with her own mother.

Plus, just based on the lies we already know about, the mom's accusations have quite a bit of credibility.

SOMALILAND OFFICIAL ACCOUNT DROPS MARRIAGE DOCUMENTS AND NAME CHANGE EVIDENCE ON ILHAN OMAR

The official X account for the Republic of Somaliland just reposted its earlier thread laying out what it calls hard receipts on U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar.

The account inal last name was Elmi before it was changed, that her brother Ahmed Nur Said Elmi and their father Nur Said Elmi used multiple names across different countries, and that part of the family entered the United States under the father’s assumed name of Omar. It further states that these name changes and split identities were used to conceal the father’s true identity and alleged war crimes.

The account specifically highlights a 2009 Minnesota marriage license application and certificate.

The documents list the groom as Ahmed Nur Said Elmi and the bride as Ilhan Abdullahi Omar. The account states that the marriage was between Omar and her brother and asks the Department of Justice, DHS, and the White House about possible extradition. In its latest post, the account simply writes “Not to my knowledge” while quoting the earlier material, signaling that it has seen no public action on the claims despite the documents being available for years.

The Somaliland account notes that the evidence was available during the Obama Justice Department and that officials refused to investigate. It presents the marriage paperwork and family name patterns as the core of its case. Critics have long pointed to these same records as evidence of immigration irregularities, while Omar has denied the sibling marriage allegation. The documents themselves remain public records from Hennepin County, Minnesota. The account’s latest move puts the paperwork and the “not to my knowledge” response back in front of anyone willing to look.

Welp. That's that.
The New York Post has obtained and published an official copy of Ilhan Omar's sister's marriage certificate.

It describes their father as "Nur Said Elmi," and his profession as a "military officer.

More evidence that she is not who she says she is.

As a Korean, I want to explain what’s really happening in our country right now.

Our current president, Lee Jae-myung, is a fake president who won through a rigged election with help from the Chinese Communist Party. Our real president, Yoon Suk-yeol — the one who actually and believes in freedom and democracy — is locked up in a tiny prison cell. Meanwhile, the Democratic Party, which has been infiltrated by Chinese spies, and President Lee are pushing policies that are destroying South Korea.

This year alone, the stock market has crashed several times, and many young Koreans have taken their own lives. Like most of our cabinet ministers, the Defense Minister is also a Chinese spy. Under this spy-controlled Defense Ministry, South Korean soldiers standing face-to-face with North Korean troops have not been given live ammunition. Koreans only recently found out that our soldiers have been confronting the North Korean military with empty guns for months. Now they’re even talking about taking the guns away completely and making our soldiers stand guard with sticks instead.

North Korea has repeatedly crossed the border and spent up to 10 hours a day planting landmines, yet the government — now controlled by the Chinese Communist Party — says nothing and tells us not to provoke North Korea. On top of that, the Korean government allowed visa-free entry for Chinese nationals, and a huge number of Chinese people have flooded into the country. This has caused a sharp rise in human trafficking, kidnapping, and murder. Disappearances linked to organ harvesting have also increased dramatically. They’re even planning to bring in 100 million Chinese people visa-free over the next 10 years — in a country of only 50 million people.

In short, Lee Jae-myung and the Democratic Party are trying to dismantle the Republic of Korea, pull it away from freedom and democracy, and hand it over to China. That’s also why they’re aggressively pushing multicultural immigration policies.

If you don’t want South Korea to fall into the hands of the Chinese Communist Party and radical Islamists, please share our voices. We’ve been trying for years to get the world to see what’s happening, but the global media almost never reports the truth about our country. South Korea is now 99% under the control of the Chinese Communist Party. The last 1% is being held together only by the U.S. troops still stationed here and by ordinary Korean citizens who have been protesting in the streets nonstop, day and night. Yet Lee Jae-myung and the Democratic Party are doing everything they can to force the U.S. military out and take back wartime operational control, so they can open the door wide for China and North Korea.

Also, since July 7, 2026, a revised version of the Information and Communications Network Act (what Koreans call the “mouth-shutting law”) has been in effect. Under this law, people can actually be sent to prison for criticizing the government or criticizing China. Because of this, many Koreans who tried to speak out on social media or at protests have been investigated and jailed. Freedom of religion has become a luxury in South Korea. Pastors who speak out about what’s happening are being thrown in prison. The government is now saying that if churches get involved in politics, they will be shut down and all their assets will be seized by the state.

Is this North Korea?

No. This is South Korea in October 2026.

Please, share this as widely as you can.
This is not Pakistan. It’s Seoul, South Korea.

A lot of people don’t know this, but South Korea has one of the highest levels of immigration in the world right now.

I genuinely don’t understand why so many countries have collectively decided to commit suicide by importing people from completely different cultures.

I get that South Korea has the lowest fertility rate, but this won’t solve the problem. It will only make it worse. x.com/soslexx0/statu…

getty images spent years watermarking every photo on the internet.

sued stability AI for training on their library. demanded the AI companies pay up. called it theft.

filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy this week.

the AI companies didn't pay. they just... kept going and designers otos. and the $500 licensing fees stopped making sense when midjourney exists. and the debt piled up.

a company whose entire business model was "we own the visual record of human history, pay us" just got outrun by a model that learned from that record and started giving it away for free.

The irony is that the watermark is still on every image in the archive.

even the ones nobody's licensing anymore.

Absorb this lesson, as it is one of the most important of the last two centuries of human history.
John Cowperthwaite did more for human prosperity than any development economist drawing a government salary ever managed, and he did it by refusing to do almost anything at all.

As Hong Kong's Financial Secretary from 1961 to 1971, Cowperthwaite ran one of the most radically rn world has ever seen. He kept taxes flat and low (the top income tax rate sat at 15%), ran consistent budget surpluses, abolished import tariffs, and blocked nearly every subsidy request that crossed his desk. When British civil servants demanded economic statistics to justify intervention, he refused to collect them. Not out of laziness. He genuinely believed that giving planners numbers gave them excuses.

The results? In 1960, Hong Kong's per capita income stood at roughly 28% of Britain's. By 1997, Hong Kong had surpassed Britain. That trajectory happened without natural resources, without foreign aid, and without a single five-year plan drafted by well-intentioned economists from Oxford. Hong Kong had a harbor, people willing to work, and a bureaucrat with enough intellectual discipline to keep the state out of their way.

Capital flows toward secure property rights and reliable rules, and flees the moment politicians start allocating it. Every industry Beijing picked as a "priority sector" during those same decades burned through subsidies and produced junk. Hong Kong's industries emerged organically, serving real demand, building real wealth.

You benefit from this history whether you know it or not, because Hong Kong's success gave the world a controlled experiment that still embarrasses every advocate of managed development. The control group thrived. The planned economies didn't.

Cowperthwaite retired to St Andrews, received a knighthood, and gave almost no interviews. That restraint was entirely in character.

"Tenzing" is awful. The best parts are the shots of the mountain and the CGI-assisted climbing scenes. They do a good job of expressing how difficult it is to traverse the icefall, the sheer intimidation of the Lhotse face, how fragile and exposed the "camps" are, how unbelievably hostile the weather can get.

Where it all falls down is, as one would predict for an Apple production, the script and the never-ending ritual bowing to wokism.

The whites on the climbing team, of course, are all casual racists, taking the sherpas utterly for granted and treating them like pack mules, even though the historical record is that they very much respected and realized they utterly needed their guidance and climbing experience.

Of course, the whites are also idiots, easily fooled by the very wise and clever sherpas. Such is Apple's eagerness to express contempt for western culture that there is a scene where the sherpas literally urinate on the provincial governor's property, with the whole thing being laughed off of course. Nothing subtle here.

The script is weak and lazy. There is not a single memorable line, and the characters are completely robotic and predictable. The reliance on never-ending flashbacks, not to one early stage of Tenzing's life but to several, are just a huge distraction and serve only to show how utterly faithful, honest, reliable and generally good Tenzing is. This is not a real person, this is a cartoon. It's boring.

The climb of course, while beautifully "shot" if I can use that word, is just too predictable. Despite it's beauty, you know not only how it will turn out but how it will be handled, you can see everything coming a mile away, and you just get tired of it before it ends.

I'd give it a C. You can enjoy parts of it if you have nothing else to do. However, you won't miss much if you don't see it.

OK, if you want proof, this guy is a fucking economic moron who would do disastrous things of elected to Office, this is the only evidence you'll need.

It's very au currant and TransTifa to condemn Stock buybacks. But they're a totally ordinary to of finance and a rational thing to do when management believes the market is undervaluing the stock. In those cases, Stock buybacks are accretive to shareholders who do not sell and a source of liquidity to those who wish to sell. Additionally, it may be the best use of Capital if there are not superior capex options outstanding at the time.
GM just announced the biggest stock buyback in automotive industry history.

Instead of investing in their workers or new product lines, GM executives are robbing from the future to pay themselves and their shareholders today.

Stock buybacks should be illegal.
