In 2018, the Virginia General Assembly expanded Medicaid on a bipartisan basis, significantly broadening health care access and financial security across the Commonwealth. Rural communities particularly benefited, and over 500,000 Virginians got covered.

In 2025, Virginia voted for the largest cuts to Medicaid in American history and put eligibility requirements in place designed to kick millions of Americans off their health insurance.  

ICYMI, I joined the @ProtectOurCare “Sick of It” Bus Tour in Virginia Beach to highlight how those cuts put 300,000 Virginians and 13 Virginia hospitals at risk.
