The Port of Longview has done great work to ensure our public assets are economic engines for our communities. I’m proud to have fought to bring back $26 million for the Port’s much needed new rail overpass. By keeping our ports moving safely and efficiently, we’re supporting the maritime service.

It’s these kinds of safety improvements and infrastructure investments that keep our communities thriving and ensure we have good jobs that support families and put food on the table.

The students from Cascadia Tech’s Construction Tech program are using their skills to build a stronger community for all of us. Last week, I toured the 52nd house the students and their instructors helped build!

Some of our brightest kids have the gifts that mean they can opt upporting their talents takes tenacity and creativity and I’m so proud what they’re bringing to our community.

Thank you to the incredible volunteers at the Battle Ground Heathcare Free Clinic for giving your time and resources to provide care and ensure we have this critical safety net for our community.

I’m working hard in Congress to alleviate pressures on our healthcare .R. 1 only worsened. —and making sure our community has access to primary and dental care.

When we strengthen our ports, we create the opportunities for good paying jobs that support families and working people. The Port of Vancouver @portvanusa is vital to farmers, producers, and businesses across the region and beyond who rely on this infrastructure to ship their $18 million investment in port improvements–because just like how a rising tide lifts all boats, a stronger port system means a stronger economy for all of us in Washington.

When you call emergency services, the people who respond bring with them a unique combination of skill and bravery. In rural areas–where we don’t take healthcare access for granted–the spirit of public service and community building keeps us safe.

Thank you to the brave men and e for taking the time to talk with me about the challenges facing EMS workers every day. I'm proud to continue making the investment needed to build a capable and durable workforce in such an important field.

When you live in a rural community, there’s this constant back of mind worry about the what-ifs of healthcare access. Aging equipment and systems are becoming more and more expensive to repair or replace, and health cuts–like the ones I voted against–aren’t helping our r feet.

Last week, I joined staff members at Willapa Harbor Hospital to discuss the challenges they face maintaining and replacing new equipment and to tour the imaging suite upgrades I worked to get community project funding for last year.

When you send your kids off to their first day of school, you want to know your school has the resources to take care of them.

Last week I introduced the More Nurses in Rural Schools Act to extend existing loan forgiveness programs to nurses who make the noble choice to serve their community and take care of our children. Letting schools become healthcare deserts isn’t in anyone’s best interest.

While many vets have the relevant skills, they functionally can’t use their VA home loans and leverage their skills to build a home. In fact, only 30% of vets use their VA home loans at all.

My bill, the Veterans Owner-Builders’ Rights Act, lets our vets use their skills to nd community-while increasing the housing supply for all of us.

We can’t become a society where everyone either has 2 jobs or 2 houses–people need to know there are affordable housing options within reach. In Congress, I’ve successfully pushed for the Build Now Act to encourage more housing construction and worked to cut the red tape putting e trying to access housing.

Thank you to the staff at Outsiders Inn and the volunteers at St. Paul Men’s Shelter for giving me an opportunity to see your work firsthand.

I don’t know what kind of low-life loser you have to be to go out and scam seniors, but I do know law enforcement should have every tool available to react as quickly as possible.

I introduced the One Front Door for Elder Fraud Act to streamline the reporting process for targets of scams and to ensure every report gets on the desk of the right investigator.

Without skilled trades, some of the greatest advancements in history wouldn’t have happened. As a member of Congress, I am advocating for shop class in middle school, honors level shop class in high school, and advancing pride and power in the trades.

Good shop programs are exactly what our country needs right now and it is so encouraging to see leaders in our community put the muscle behind the work to make these programs a possibility.

Congress's approval is at an all-time low—and when you look under the hood, it’s easy to see why. Across America, families are making tough choices every day to balance their checkbooks and pay their bills on time. Meanwhile, in Congress, the rules seem to be different.

It doesn’t have to be this way. The Congressional Budget Reform Act of 2026 will hold Washington accountable. This is how we restore fiscal stability—and put working Americans back in control.

Congress, and the American people, have been clear that we do not support buying Russian oil to fund Putin’s war in Ukraine.  Just weeks ago, an overwhelming majority in the House passed legislation to levy steep new sanctions on the sale of Russian oil.  And before I came to Congress, there was a near unanimous vote to expressly prohibit the import of Russian oil with the Ending Importation of Russian Oil Law. The President’s decision to buy Russian oil is in direct conflict with the will of Congress and the intent of these laws.

I have been in direct communication with both my Republican and Democratic House members who share my opposition to the President’s ill conceived action.  I am working with my colleagues to introduce bipartisan legislation that will block any and all purchase of Russian oil.

Just a few weeks ago Congress overwhelmingly voted to impose new, strict sanctions on the sale of Russian oil, which is funding Putin’s fascist war against Ukraine.

Trump’s undermined our national power in his announced plans to buy Russian oil because: a) it won’t actually bring down prices; and b) we’re now funding the war against Ukraine.

Mr. President, if you want to help the American people by bringing down the high cost of diesel, end your war with Iran.
