La défaite du président serbe Aleksandar Vučić est un immense espoir pour la Serbie.

Ce dirigeant nationaliste et autoritaire, qui entretenait des liens très étroits avec Vladimir Poutine et Xi Jinping, a vu sa coalition largement battue lors des élections législatives anticipées de ce dimanche. La « Liste des étudiants », issue du mouvement de contestation contre la corruption, a remporté le scrutin avec plus de 52 % des voix.

L’avenir de la Serbie est en Europe. Nous devons accompagner cette aspiration démocratique et accélérer son processus d’adhésion à l’Union européenne.

Au-delà de la Serbie, c’est l’avenir de tous les Balkans occidentaux qui se joue.

Nous ne pouvons pas laisser cette région stratégique devenir une zone d’influence de la Russie ou de la Chine. C’est un enjeu géopolitique majeur pour notre sécurité, notre souveraineté et la stabilité de notre continent.
