Over the last few weeks there's been a lot of whether this platform is back. In that time, this platform has also become the central place where people have congregated to dox a woman who accused seven men of sexual assault.
X has allowed it all.

Ukrainian officials are blaming SpaceX for restricting access to Starshield, the military version of Starlink, without notice and hampering their war effort.
But in the past, Elon Musk has said that Starshield is paid for and "operated by" the US government.
So who really made the decision to limit Ukraine's satellite internet access?

Here is Musk in March 2026 saying that Starshield "is not under SpaceX control."

@ChrisO_wiki It is a violation of commercial Starlink terms of service to use the terminal for weapon systems. This applies to all users and is shut down when discovered.
There is a separate network called Starshield, which is operated by the US government. This is not under SpaceX control.

Now in a post, Musk reiterates that the US gov controls Starshield and that any decision to limit or throttle services to Ukrainian forces lies with the President

@FedorovMykhailoms are owned and controlled by the US government. Any limits on speed or usage are decided by the US military and ultimately POTUS.
Starlink is a commercial service owned and controlled by SpaceX. Usage of Starlink is limited to civilian or defensive activities and cannot be used for offensive military action, as doing so would be inappropriate for a commercial company.

A Bay Area restaurant owner says Elon Musk’s SpaceX owes him $70,000 for two dinners he catered in Palo Alto. “That’s not even a penny for them,” he said. sfchronicle.com/food/restauran…

You can agree or disagree with him, but Musk's longterm goal for SpaceX — to make human life multiplanetary — has remained mostly consistent for more than two decades.
But what is his longterm goal with AI? His views in two posts 12 years apart seem to be... inconsistent?

Musk used to be one of the biggest pessimists when it came to AI. He famously got in an argument with Larry Page at his 2015 bday party after the Google founder suggested a superintelligence might one day destroy humanity, as my colleagues reported.

Hours before Krist Noem left her job as D.H.S. secretary, her agency bought 5 planes from a donor at a big markup, records show. They were supposed to fly deportees but have largely sat idle -- a striking symbol of gov. waste under President Trump. nytimes.com/2026/10/04/us/…
