When NU is recruiting defensive linemen this offseason and they visit the recruiting lounge at New Ryan Field I hope the coaching staff points to Adebawore's picture and highlights his NFL salary. x.com/MikeGarafolo/s…
The #Colts and DL Adetomiwa Adebawore have agreed to terms on a two-year, $35 million extension that includes a $13 million signing bonus and $22.5 million in new money through 2027.

Adebawore, 25, cashes in on a breakout season in a deal negotiated by @kenny_zuckerman of ves him a chance to hit the market again in his mid-20s.

Thoughts on @NUMensBball season opening win vs Binghamton
-Winning is fun
-Jack Karasanski is a knock-down shooter. Something last year’s team didn’t really have
-Colin Smith got limited minutes coming back from injury but he seems impactful Has a B1G type frame to play Defense

Thank you @CFBONFOX for respecting Northwestern enough to put them on national TV four times this season. CBS & (real) NBC remain allergic to the ‘Cats. Ohio St fans are upset this isn’t on NBC because they get zero night games this year. Including Saturday NU will have had five.

Tomorrow night @NUMensBball opens the regular season vs Binghamton. The Wildcats also opened the regular season vs Binghamton in 23-24 and got a hard-fought win behind Boo Buie's 27 points.

Reality is Northwestern has given up too many big plays on defense all year. They avoided disaster vs weaker teams but regardless of Oregon’s record they got pro-level athletes and when they got chances to make big plays they made them. Also Oregon’s vet DL got to NU’s young OL

Oregon 34 NU 26 thoughts:
-Settling for FGs too often gets you beat
-We all knew the NU’s penchant for giving up big plays and poor DL play would eventually cost them a game
-Chiles using his legs for big plays was good to see
-No excuses but injuries are hurt this team a lot

As one of the most recent additions to the B1G Oregon hasn't matched up with @NUFBFamily very often. Last year's game was a Ducks win but Mac Uihlein made this highlight reel interception for NU.

This is what Collins (and for years Brian James) really excel at. NU’s out of bounds sets and playbook depth is excellent. But for it to matter you have to make shots and handle the ball. Shooting 19% isn’t going to get that done.
Jack Karasinski hits a huge three to cut the lead down to 27

Also, occasionally playing defense would be great. The last two years NU’s hard-nosed defense has disappeared. Might not have personnel to play that style but then it’s time to try to play something else because this looks like another year of opposing teams running layups lines

As a former high school football coach. I think even 3A and 4A coaches are loving this.

Thoughts on NU 42 Rutgers 14
-Chiles best game at NU both running and passing. Loved the pull for a long TD run
-Run defense has get better. Some of it is DL but at times LBs fits aren’t great either
-Griffin Wilde is the most underrated player in all of CFB. He’s an NFL WR

It was the classic Bill Carmody 1-3-1 defense that helped @NUMensBball to win in the Chicagoland Classic against Iowa State at the UIC Pavilion in 2009.

As these great NU athletes get inducted into the HoF, I want to reiterate that Drew Crawford is the most underrated NU hooper of all time. I’m glad he’s getting this recognition. 3rd all time leading scorer but got overshadowed because he played w/ a lot of other high volume guys
Fired up to celebrate their induction into the 2026 @NU_Sports tonight!!! What a great group of ‘Cats!!!🟣⚪️💪

Rutgers only previous trip to @NUFBFamily as member of the B1G came in 2021. The Wildcats held a Rutgers offense with Isiah Pacheco & Kyle Monangai to only 7-points and grabbed the lead on this Ryan Hilinski to Marshall Lang TD pass.

.@nufbfamily's win over MSU this past Saturday had echoes of the 1997 game. Old Ryan Field here is packed with NU fans after B1G Titles in '95 & '96. If NU can make a run this year maybe we can see New Ryan look like this. Don't even need as many people for the same impact now.

@RLins12 And that CBS game barely counts, it was a Sunday during the first year, not part of the regular selections. Everyone else, even Rutgers, has appeared at least 4 times between CBS and NBC. It’s crazy

My thoughts echo Matt’s here. Number 1 I hope Jake West is healthy. That’s more important than anything. Second I do think this team will shoot better than last year & probably is better on D. But if you can’t close out D possessions with rebounds it doesn’t really matter.
Final: Illinois State 70 , Northwestern 64

Lucky it's an exhibition because the Wildcats have a lot to work on. 14 points for West, 13 for Karasinski and 12 for Ciaravino.

20 turnovers, 8-17 on free throws and 18 offensive rebounds allowed

@GernB76129 Yeah. It was really interesting that Fitz said in the presser that every formation variation they’d seen on tape had been a fake. Our STs staff need to be able to design fakes out of our standard punt formation.
