We cannot blame the government all the time.. it's the Indian customers job to check at least the car meets minimum safety requirements. .despite knowing the lousy safety ratings of these vehicles , consumer opts for them...
If the US Govt, came to know that a car company, is selling unsafe variants to their Citizens, while selling safer ones abroad, they will be so far up their backside, that forget selling cars, they won't be able to sell stickers.
But because it is India, nothing will happen.

But the government should force the manufacturer to ..launch safer cars.. the Indian auto manufacturers like @anandmahindra and @TataMotors are doing the best job... they are making it one of their USP
