Have been less active here of late and after today will be even less active going forward.
I’ll keep collecting but with more focus / in a more ad hoc fashion / more privately.
Another change of pfp to mark / reflect the arc change.
All the best to everyone genuine out there

The game settled at 69. Four Governors were secured through the community buyout. They're going to auction one at a time, 48 hours each. Proceeds go back to buyout contributors pro rata.
💀 Opens: [29 Sept 202601 Oct 2026/00:00 UTC]
HOW TO BID
1. Reply to this post with your bid amount (e.g. "0.42 ETH")
RULES
• Opening bid: [0] WETH
• Each bid must beat the current high by at least 0.069 WETH
• Soft close: a valid bid in the final 15 min extends the auction by 15 min
• Bid order is set by reply timestamp. Edited or deleted replies are void
• If the top offer is invalid at settlement (cancelled, expired, not enough WETH), we go to the next highest valid bid
• The winning offer is accepted on OpenSea within 24h of close
Governor 2 opens shortly after this one settles.
Taxes are certain. Governors are not. 💀

Amazing to see @CentrePompidou starting up a committee for art numérique. Congrats to @IsmaTaziS and @redbeardnft for chairing it.
For those that don't speak french, it's time to learn.

This game of death and taxes has been the most interesting social experiment I ever experienced.
It’s been a very clever game, with onchain puzzles, game theory at it’s finest at play, and really performance art from start to finish.
And - a great revealer of character.
Actions over words always show true selves
The end was very fitting, with citizens coming together (with very few but notable exceptions) to contribute their fair proportional share to make the ending happen. There definitely was arr in this.
I loved this game
Thank you @m0dest___ for creating this fascinating experiment.
This will live for the ages. The behaviours of every one of us who participated are inscribed on the blockchain forever.
In one minute the game will end. I am posting this literally as the game is ending
To my friends in the union - it was beautiful to create friendships and connections. Thank you for the great camaraderie!
That’s it folks!

tonight, death and taxes ends.
a group of citizens organized. a large holder agreed to sacrifice four of their own citizens, 17 eth each. the group pooled the funds and bought the final four deaths. i didn't end the game. the citizens did. i can't imagine a better ending than are killed, the population reaches 69, and this phase of the game officially concludes.
now the important part, survivors:
your share of the treasury does not move on its own. claiming is a pull function. it does not happen automatically. you go to the site and you claim it yourself. there is exactly one place to do this: deptofdeath.xyz/irs. anyone who sends you anywhere else is trying to steal your hard earned eth.
the 69 will be paid exactly as written. that sentence has been on every surface of this project since the beginning. tonight it comes true.
i'm proud of what i built. the art, the strategy, the mechanics, the puzzles, the story. but, it also cost far more than i expected. it broke me emotionally. damaged relationships with people i genuinely care about. i said from the start that the tension and the discourse was part of the art. some days that was hard to believe.
thank you to everyone who played, watched, doubted, screamed, accused, and stayed. all of it was participation. all of it is in the work.
to the 69: you outlived a world. survived 201 grueling days. you will soon collect what the world owes you.
i'll have more to share later. still trying to process all of this. the subnet is coming. but for now i need a vacation.

A real privilege to get to own one of your 1/1s. Such a special one, too!
The colours, the composition, the provenance - such a fantastic piece - it is my favourite of all your 1/1s!
I remember so well when you posted the extract of it and named “boy with ember” - that was the key moment on my side.
