As the Remembrance Sunday commemoration returns to George Square this morning, here's a look at how it was done 99 years ago. The horrors of the Great War were still fresh in the minds of the veterans who took part.

Unveiled on 31st May 1924 by Earl Haig, the Glasgow Cenotaph. Erected in remembrance of the soldiers who died during the First World War, it was designed by Sir JJ Burnet in 1922 and is flanked by sculptures of lions by Ernest Gillick.

Across Glasgow today, we pause to honour those who served and never came home.
We remember their courage, the families who lost them, and all those who serve our country today.
We will remember them.

Did you hear the amazing news? 🥳
This week Transport Secretary @StephenFlynnSNP finally announced that he would scrap the 'independent panel' part of the bus franchising process 🚍🚏
This will make it easier & quicker for @WeareSPT to take our buses back into public control 👏

This morning at the Dennistoun War Memorial service, we remembered all of those young men and women who left the familiar tenement closes of Dennistoun to serve their country and never came back home.
Lest we forget.

Robin McAlpine asks why the SNP doesn’t try to win over the people of Scotland.
There is no mystery to this: on all the key questions about what it really means (for currency, pensions, public spending etc…) telling voters the truth about independence turns them off the idea.

It's rather distressing to see the rate at which this imposing 1930s B-Listed former telephone exchange in the Tradeston area of Glasgow has deteriorated in the last six months.

Do you remember when Glasgow tried to turn an abandoned railway station into an underground nightclub, but a coalition of angry celebs and doctors managed to stop it?
The year was 2006. The location: the lush West End Botanics Gardens. Or rather, under them.

Did you know the Lady Haig's Poppy Factory is celebrating its 100th anniversary?
For a century, it has supported veterans and their families while producing Scotland’s iconic poppies.
Proud to support this incredible milestone and the life-changing work it continues to do.

The British government should look at Rockstar Games like they do The Beatles and do more to talk up the fact it's a British studio responsible for the best games ever. Always weird to me that we don't celebrate our gaming roots more as a country, as they're pretty special

A few years ago, I began campaigning to bring Whiteinch Burgh Hall back into use. I’ve since approached housing associations and other organisations to explore possible options, and I wanted to update the community on where things stand.
