How can I safely make a change now that it’s been several weeks, months, or even years? Without a trail of reasoning, it’s easy to second-guess decisions that may still be sound, repeat gotcha mistakes, or simply waste time and resources unraveling past logic. particular.net/blog/architect…

Derek Comartin’s five event driven pain points: tracing that stops at the broker, dead letter queues nobody can inspect, forcing everything into async events, eventual consistency complicating compensation, and integration tests trying to cover every boundary. Most come from tooling and misapplied concepts, not events themselves. codeopinion.com/event-driven-a…

@ParticularSW a nightly count of what's sitting in each DLQ, posted to the team that owns it, fixes the "nobody looks" part cheaply. who usually owns replays in the setups you see?

Replying to @automatethebs
@automatethebs Yep, tooling and observability, just like Derek said. We've seen all sorts of setups across our customers, from developers directly "owning" the health and upkeep of the system, to having a NOC team (without direct application knowledge) serve as a triage layer.

Payload size matters when data is mostly binary or bandwidth is tight, and JSON handles binary poorly. And that's a wrap on #TechoramaNL! 🎬

A few days of talks, questions, ideas, demos, distributed systems, messaging - and some brilliant conversations at the Particular Software booth.

Huge thanks to everyone who stopped by, challenged us with a question, shared a production story, attended one of our talks, or simply came over to say hello. ❤️

And, of course, to the Techorama team for bringing this community together.

Until next time! 👋

One of the conversations happening at the Particular Software booth today:

💬 “If my message broker is reliable, why do I need anything else?”

Now *that's* a conversation we can spend some time on. 😄

If you're thinking about reliability, retries, failures, sagas, or what happens when things go wrong in production, come find us.

What a day at #TechoramaNL. 🙌

We've talked about retries, message ordering, sagas, Azure Service Bus, RabbitMQ, failures, and more than a few interesting production incidents. 😄

Thanks to everyone who stopped by the Particular Software booth today.

More tomorrow! 👋
