removed the Cutlass from sailors landed for service. It would still be retained for ceremonial duties and is still held by some ships and establishments for this purpose. It would however not be it's last operational use.

To knock the seven bells out of someone means to beat them severely. The term comes from The Royal Navy where the bell system was used to tell the time and watch changes. The watch ended at 8 bells therefore to knock 7 bells is to beat them near to death.

Still an iconic @RoyalNavy photograph nearly 40 years on.
The Leander class Frigate, HMS MINERVA and her Lynx helicopter off the UK, 1987. Britain built 26, but more were built for export and 8 Navies operated these excellent compact frigates.

All foreign currencies to the British Sailor are known as Ickies, which they would typically spend on a good run ashore with their oppos (night out with friends). Once you break an Icky you end up with Klebbies which are usually 100 to an Icky.

⛳ A little tee time at sea!
This #WorldMentalHealthDay, we're recognising the importance of camaraderie, teamwork and looking after one another while deployed.
Like the time our flight deck swapped helicopters for hole-in-ones!
