This unfortunate incident should never have taken place. I hope the Haryana government lead by @NayabSainiBJP ji & @police_haryana catch the culprits & take action to ensure these things don’t happen again.
Stones and bricks pelted on Kashmir bus (JK number), on Delhi to Srinagar route, near Kurukshetra Haryana in an alleged hate crime.

One elderly Kashmiri man injured in the attack, families left helpless and terrified.

We condemn the murderous attack on innocent people and demand action against the perpetrators.

Requesting @police_haryana to take cogzinace of the event, identify the culprits and take action. x.com/FaissalFarooq/…

Had J&K been a state the IAS officer seen abusing a young JKAS officer would have been attached to the General Administration Department pending an inquiry into his conduct. As a UT we expect the authorities with control over the IAS officers to set the right example & ensure abusive, threatening behaviour is not brushed under the carpet.

I’ve seen the video of the online government meeting that is circulating on social media. Prima facie the conduct of the senior officer was not in keeping with the standards expected of a senior IAS officer & the subsequent threats issued to a junior JKAS officer only make matters worse. I’ve taken this up in the strongest possible terms with the Chief Secretary. Unfortunately as a UT control over IAS officers rests with Lok Bhavan but as CM I’ve instructed the CS to ensure the JKAS officer faces no retributive action.

This is pure control of the pulpit.
A state-linked board deciding Friday sermon topics turns living faith into managed talking points.
The mimbar is not a government notice board. Mimbar belongs to the scholars and the people.
This needs to stop. Period !
The J&K Waqf Board has pushed for uniform Friday sermons at all mosques in the Union Territory (UT) and will become the first region in the country to adopt this mechanism to ensure the topics to be highlighted at religious places are pre-decided and approved by a committee of preachers.

The reports suggesting an attempt to exercise control over Friday sermons in Kashmir's mosques are a matter of grave concern and call for serious reflection.

Have we reached a point where even the words spoken from the pulpit of a mosque are to be subjected to political scrutiny? Will @BJP4India now determine the subjects our Imams may address, the concerns they may raise and the issues they must remain silent about?

A mosque is not an instrument of political messaging, nor can its pulpit become a mouthpiece for any government or political organisation.

As a Muslim who believes in moderation, tolerance and mutual respect, I find the prospect of such intrusion into our religious space profoundly disturbing. This is not about promoting extremism or resisting accountability. It is about safeguarding the fundamental right of religious communities to practise and articulate their faith without political dictates.

Our Imams and religious scholars carry a responsibility towards their faith and society. Their sermons must be shaped by religious teachings, moral values and the needs of the community, not by instructions originating from political corridors.

There must be a clear distinction between the authority of the State and the sanctity of religious institutions. Crossing that boundary would set a deeply worrying precedent.

Now @BJP4India will DRAFT Friday sermons for mosques across Kashmir.

They will decide what issues our preachers will talk about, what color they will give them and what issues are brushed under the carpet.

The content will be theirs, the wording will be theirs and the intent will be theirs.

I am not a fundamentalist but the Muslim that I am refuses to gilp this down. I am sure our religious leaders including @MirwaizKashmir oppose this with tooth and nail.

This is an unacceptable attempt by the BJP to interfere in the religious affairs of Muslims and will not be accepted under any circumstances. The BJP appointed Chairperson must immediately halt this misplaced attempt to please her masters.

Unacceptable use of force by Delhi Police. Beating up an unarmed protestor, setting aside the fact that in this case the victim is actually an elected member of parliament, is unacceptable under any circumstances & is indefensible. I join all my @JKNC_ colleagues in condemning this reprehensible brutality.
Rajya Sabha MP John Brittas was brutally attacked by the Delhi Police. He was later dropped by the roadside, visibly injured and in distress.
