Consular officers assessing B visas are required to presume immigrant intent under INA § 214(b) and to probe ties abroad. Declaring an intent to marry and remain would normally have led an officer to refuse the B visa and direct the applicant to the K-1 process.
Sey lied to get into the United States, and now his allies claim this was a clerical error.

Ben Yoho, an Ohio political consultant, reportedly sent someone to Pennsylvania to find Amy Acton's mother, who was living out of her car, to put her in front of a camera to denounce her daughter.
Yoho was the recipient of hundreds of millions of dollars of DHS funds for ads of ife, Tricia McLaughlin, worked under Noem. McLaughlin previously worked for Ramaswamy and denounced Bo French for his comments opposing the replacement of White students at UT-Austin.
Acton's mother was living with cats, having previously been convicted of killing kittens, and has been estranged from her daughter since she fled with Acton's rapist, her step-father.
Donna Arthur, Acton's mother, called her daughter a "liar."
