We're joined again by Dr. Graham McMahon, MD, President & CEO of @AccreditedCME , for part two of our exploration of CME.

He walks through his five recent articles for the @AANSNeurosurg on how surgeons keep growing as professionals: using AI without losing clinical reasoning, making M&M about decisions and not just systems, the gap between confidence and competence, metacognition, and building a learning journey that lasts.

Meet Vincent Van Den Broeck, a Belgian business owner who nearly died in Brussels when a speeding car hit him while he was riding an e-scooter without a helmet.

He shares his incredible journey from three weeks in a coma to becoming an author and entrepreneur, and how the relationships he built with his care team kept him going.

His book, Everything Feels Impossible Until It's Done, is available now! (Link in comments)

Great to see the growing conversation around e-bike safety! 🧠🚲 And there's plenty more happening on the advocacy front worth highlighting.

At our July meeting, the AANS/CNS Washington Committee took this issue directly to Capitol Hill, with Drs. Clemens Schirmer, Krystal Tomei, and Anthony DiGiorgio leading our efforts.

Building on coalition outreach through the Injury and Violence Prevention Network (IVPN), we've continued engaging federal policymakers on opportunities to strengthen national injury surveillance to inform state and local policymaking.

We're also grateful to @councilsns for developing the foundational position statement, to @AANSNeuro and @CNS_Update for formally adopting it, and @JohnMaaMD for partnering with the Washington Committee to refine an e-bike safety resolution ahead of the AMA Interim House of Delegates meeting.

From clinical concerns to organized medicine to Capitol Hill, this is what turning advocacy into action looks like.

🚨 E-bike injuries are on the rise!

Drs. @JohnMaaMD and Blake Taylor discuss the case of Amelia Stafford, a 15-year-old who survived a devastating e-bike accident and went on to inspire new legislation to prevent more injuries like hers. Learn why e-bikes behave more like mopeds than bicycles, how helmet use and speed drive traumatic brain injury risk, and how physicians can push for change.

And stick around for Dr. Maa's update on new laws in California, New Jersey, and beyond!

I am seeing more brain injuries from e bikes and e scooters than from cars recently.

It’s very concerning.
