Congrats to Dr. Amy Acton for becoming the governor of Ohio. ❤️🌊
A win for survivors everywhere after that vile attack ad.
A symbolic victory in a night of crushing wins. 🇺🇸

My friend Dr. Annie Andrews called me in December of 2024 to tell she was gonna run for the Senate.
She knew she could win. She had the vision. And she and her folks worked their asses off over the past two years.
So damn proud of her and her team.

From Puerto Rico to Georgia, congratulations to @ossoff on his reelection to the U.S. Senate! We’re grateful to have played a small part alongside the @GeorgiaDemocrat in keeping this seat blue.

If you live in Florida and care about statehood for Puerto Rico, you should vote for @AngieNixon. If John Thune is majority leader, there is no chance to advance a status bill in the US Senate.
Elector🇵🇷🇺🇸 de Florida. Sal a votar hoy y dale un tutazo a la comunista Nixon que quiere independizar a Puerto Rico. Vota Después no te quejes‼️

There's something unusually ugly about the growing tendency to label Abdul el-Sayed an "Islamist."
No evidence that AES wants to rewrite the US Constitution along Islamic lines. And yet, because he's Muslim, people can just throw out accusations like this without consequence.

The extent of antisemitism that’s so casual it’s barely even coherent in right-wing edgelord circles keeps getting overlooked as American Jewish institutions put all their remaining weight into a losing foreign policy argument.

Or you could just avoid this all together but playing one of the refutations to the Smith-Mora gambit.
In this position, with Black just playing Ne5, White had a way to obtain a tremendous advantage. Can you find it?

Jordan's 1950 annexation of the West Bank was widely condemned internationally. Not even other Arab states recognized it.
Whether the occupation itself was illegal is a separate legal issue. Israel's military occupation of the WB may be legal, the settlements are not.

@CjgbVictoria @MikeFellman Jordan occupied that same land until 1967 and iit wasn't considered illegal occupation
Explain to me the impartial reasoning from the UN there

Bad behavior to be sure but it's not remotely close to the worst I've seen.
This is my second time having a tenant trash one of my rentals
We had our inspections, and they were dirtier people, but they didn’t have it trashed like this when we were in there
Some people literally live like animals, it’s unreal

This is going to shock a lot of people but yes, economic factors played a role in migration into Palestine of both Arabs and Jews.
Make no mistake, for Jewish immigrants, the underlying cause was antisemitism in Europe.
Later, when the the US heavily restricted immigration in the 1920s, immigration to Palestine surged.
But, for time a Palestine represented a more financially accessible option than travel to the United States. Passage to Palestine from Odessa to Jaffa was significantly cheaper than to NYC.
It's also important to note that the vast majority of immigrants were not ideological Zionists, especially during the Ottoman period. Most just wanted out of the Russia Empire. The overwhelming majority (85 percent) of Jewish migrants settled in cities, and did not join Kibbutzim.
Lastly, Arab migration into Palestine occurred as well as new arrivals and investment from Jewish donors overseas drove economic growth higher.
In sum, it's a gross simplification to attribute migration into Palestine being driven by solely or even primarily Zionism. Economic factors were present as was rising antisemitism in Europe, and finally US immigration restrictions.

Yes, Zionists chose the Land of Israel because of "economics, actually"
Because nothing was more financially enticing than tracts of malaria-ridden swamps

What does this have to do with anything? The occupations of Gaza and the West Bank by Egypt and Jordan respectively were also illegal and Jordan's annexation of the WB was not internationally recognized.
@KNayyar14 @MikeFellman BTW, be careful what you wish for - before 1967, the West Bank was controlled and annexed by the Kingdom of Jordan (then known as Transjordan), following the 1948 Arab–Israeli War and the 1949 armistice agreements. And the Gaza Strip was administered and controlled by Egypt

You can accept Palestinian rejectionism is the reason they don't have a state while still correctly acknowledging that settlement in the occupied territories by Israeli civilians is illegal.
@MikeFellman As usual where israel is concerned the law makes no sense.
Israel is there because a treaty was signed with Palestinians for them to be.
Palestinians then refused to sign a final agreement.
So the area is in limbo, due to Palestinians choice.
Its crazy.

There is no double standard.
Arab-Israelis are an ethnic minority within an established state.
The West Bank is occupied territory under international law. It's illegal for the occupying power's civilian population to settle in the territory.
This includes Arab-Israelis btw.

@JorEagle47 @MikeFellman @kchoudhu Such double standards
1) What about Jews that lived in the Palestinian territory? Do they get a say?
2) As we established Israel must keep its Arab citizens, how come there are 0 Jewish citizens in anywhere ruled by Palestinians?

This is correct. Israel did not achieve either of its war aims. It freed the hostages via negotiated exchanges and Hamas is still armed and in power in Gaza.
@MogilnerV68824 @uriahz @MikeFellman Keep reading. Israel has plenty of options it choose the dumbest one strategically. The mission failed. Not one objective achieved and a strategic global disaster on its hands but Bibi survived, didn’t go to court and avoided the blame for Oct7. It’s all this was about.
