A BMC is an independent management chip on the server motherboard: iDRAC (Dell), iLO (HPE), XCC (Lenovo).
What it does:
1. Remote power control and console
2. Temperature, fan, voltage and PSU sensors
3. Hardware errors in the system event log (SEL)
Keep it on an isolated passwords, and attach the SEL when you open a ticket.

• TBW: total data that can be written over the warranty period
• DWPD: full-drive writes per day over the warranty period
TBW ≈ DWPD × capacity × 365 × warranty years.
Read-heavy workloads typically use ~1 DWPD s ~3 DWPD. Check wear in SMART and plan replacement before the limit.

A customer in North China: a server would not power on.
The board fault LED (BRD) was lit with alarm code E4. Diagnosis: motherboard failure. We replaced the board and the server booted normally. The old board went back for return; the replacement carries a 1-year warranty.
