As long as the Russian aggression continues, Sweden has a clear two-point plan: to strengthen Ukraine and to weaken Russia. Ukraine can count on Sweden’s support.
❗️Sweden will not recognize Russia’s annexation of Ukrainian territories – Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard
"Our position is that, in order to achieve a just and lasting peace, borders cannot be changed by force. There can be no restrictions on the Ukrainian provoke further Russian aggression, and there can be no restrictions on the full sovereign rights of the Ukrainian people to choose their own path, which includes the path toward EU membership.
Sweden does not recognize the illegal annexation of Crimea or any other part of Ukraine’s territory by Russia. We will not reward aggression."

Congratulations to the Student List on its decisive victory and to the people of Serbia that turned out in record numbers to choose their future. This is an opportunity to strengthen democracy, the rule of law, and the fight against corruption. Sweden continues to support reforms that underpin Serbia’s EU accession.

One year after the RSF seized El Fasher, civilians in Darfur continue to suffer the consequences of horrific atrocities.
As Sudan’s civil war is in its fourth year, Sweden stands with the Sudanese people and remains committed to ensuring accountability for those responsible.

Shocked and appalled by yesterday’s horrific attack on mourners at a church funeral in Karak, Jordan.
Targeting people in their moment of grief is abhorrent and can never be justified.
My deepest condolences to the victims and their loved ones. Sweden stands firmly with Jordan and the Jordanian people.

Important day for Hungary and Europe: 70 years have passed since the people of Hungary stood up against Soviet oppression and bravely fought for the freedom of their country. I am honoured to represent Sweden in Budapest on this historic occasion.

The EU has presented its new Arctic Strategy.
As one of the Union’s three Arctic Member States, Sweden welcomes that the EU strengthens its role in the region and puts security at the forefront.
It is important that we pay more attention to the Arctic region’s increasing geopolitical weight, protection of critical infrastructure, and deepened cooperation with like-minded partners – in addition to issues such as climate, environment, and research. We also welcome that the strategy gives priority to matters regarding space policy, which is becoming essential to the EU’s security and autonomy.
The Arctic is our part of Europe. It is both a domestic and a foreign policy matter. We look forward to continuing the work with the Arctic Strategy both within the EU and with international partners.

Support to Ukraine is and remains Sweden’s foremost foreign policy priority, and this is reflected in every call I have with @andrii_sybiha. As long as the Russian aggression continues, Sweden will remain committed to our two-point plan: more support to Ukraine and increased pressure on Russia.
I had a productive call with my Swedish colleague @MariaStenergard. Grateful to Sweden for its steadfast support and particularly for its leadership in advancing the full use of frozen Russian assets for Ukraine. Russia must pay for its aggression.
We followed up on last week’s ffairs Council, which delivered important sanctions decisions and reinforced Europe’s determination to maintain pressure on Russia. We also discussed the next steps following last week’s meeting between President @ZelenskyyUa and @SwedishPM Ulf Kristersson.
A particular focus was strengthening Ukraine’s air defense and protecting our skies against relentless Russian attacks. I am grateful to Sweden for its unwavering support.

Today marks 11 years since Gui Minhai was detained. His case remains of high priority for the Swedish Government and the EU, which we consistently raise with China. Sweden insists that Gui Minhai must be released and able to reunite with his daughter and family.

Ukraine urged international businesses to leave Russia following the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
Yet as of July 2026, many international companies continued operating in Russia. They included consumer goods giants such as PepsiCo, Mondelez International and Procter & Gamble, as well as major financial institutions like Austria’s Raiffeisen Bank International and Italy’s UniCredit.
Now, selling these assets has become increasingly difficult. Under a 2023 presidential decree, the Russian authorities can seize businesses owned by companies from countries deemed “unfriendly.”
This is yet another demonstration of how Russia disregards international law and the protection of private property. It should dispel any remaining doubts about the need to put frozen Russian assets to work — assets immobilised as a direct consequence of Russia’s aggression.
I want to personally thank the countries that are on board for this timely decision. My special thanks go to Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden @MariaStenergard for her leadership in mobilizing the efforts.
We had productive discussions on this during our Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg.
We urge all our partners to take this decisive step as soon as possible. Using frozen Russian assets would effectively double support for Ukraine without costing European taxpayers a single cent. It will help effectively protect Ukrainian lives and ensure fair compensation for the damage Russia has inflicted and continues to inflict.

International businesses, including PepsiCo and Nestle, stayed in Russia after Putin invaded Ukraine. But selling now is so complex that companies risk coming away with nothing. bloomberg.com/features/2026-…

The postponement of the Palestinian legislative elections is deeply regrettable. Palestinians must be able to vote to elect their leadership and representatives to their institutions.

Today, 🇺🇦 and 🇲🇩 took two important steps forward in their accession to the EU. Deeper integration into the single market, as well as increased cooperation on competitiveness, innovation and growth, will bring substantial benefits for Ukrainians, Moldovans, and the EU.

@WeareNATO
