Before you decide where you want to play college soccer, KNOW THE DIFFERENCE between D1, D2, D3, NAIA, and JUCO.
⚽ D1: Highly competitive, demanding schedules, and intense roster competition. The level varies by program, but earning a spot and playing time is never guaranteed.
⚽ D2: Competitive college soccer that can offer a strong balance of athletics and academics. Many programs have excellent facilities, coaching, and opportunities to play.
⚽ D3: Academics are a major part of the experience, and athletic scholarships are not permitted. Don’t mistake D3 for an easy level of soccer. Some programs are extremely competitive.
⚽ NAIA: An alternative college athletics pathway with competitive soccer programs, different eligibility rules, and athletic scholarship opportunities at some schools.
⚽ JUCO (Junior College): A two-year college pathway that can provide development, playing time, an affordable start to college, and a potential transfer route to a four-year program.
