Machine perfusion has fundamentally changed how we evaluate, preserve, and utilize donor livers. It is expanding access to organs that once would have our teams more time and more information to make better decisions for our patients.
Dr. Ohara delivered a clear, thoughtful overview of where the field stands and where it is heading, and it was a pleasure to see our hepatology and GI colleagues engage so closely with the transplant perspective. Collaboration across these teams is exactly what moves this work forward.
