I knew William Contreras was a good baseball player. But until I watched the Brewers this postseason I never realized he was *this* good. MVP well deserved.

No disrespect, but it's the most American thing ever that the first guy who got to hold the trophy is the owner rather than Pat Murphy, William Contreras, Jacob Misiorowski, or any of the other people who actually made this happen

Congratulations to Milwaukee and the great state of Wisconsin. It's insane it took this long but it's hard to think of a team more deserving than this. Ashby, Contraras, Misiorowski, doesn't get better than this. Enjoy every moment.

Spoke too soon. Looks like Junior Caminero used whatever was left of his legs to get to third there.

Among other things, the Brewers' pitchers — and their bullpen especially — have really neutralized the top of Tampa's batting order. Some hits here and there from guys like Diaz and Caminero but they're supposed to be a lot more dangerous than this (and usually are).

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow's team has pulled together their summary of the numbers in the election last night, which the incumbent won emphatically over Brad Bradford. #TOpoli

This can hardly be called an original point, but Matt Yglesias is wrong.
Earnest take: I think it’s probably not healthy for the practice of democratic self-government that so many people have developed strong rooting interests in elections in countries they don’t live in.

Danielle Smith eked out a majority on a series of immigration that were manipulative and misleading.

The results should not be seen as a mandate, but a wakeup call.

Tonight, the people of Toronto have spoken.

And you have given me the extraordinary honour of continuing to serve as your mayor.

I am grateful. I am humbled.

And I am so proud of our city.

“Arabs don’t produce literature” is really something you can only say if you’ve never had a moment’s contact with genuine civilization. A mind totally consumed by television and self-help books.
RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Novel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

It's not going to be a close election in Toronto.

Brad Bradford will win by at least 5% of the vote.

I can't believe more than 42 percent of Torontonians are total morons who would vote to reelect a corrupt, incompetent, communist imbecile.

This is looking like a blowout rather than the close race some suggested. I notice, too, that Chow is leading Brad Bradford by nearly 35 points in his own former ward.
I've seen enough. Olivia Chow has been re-elected as Toronto's Mayor and all the worst people are about to be very mad.

Huge congrats @chipadovani for finally ridding city council of Frances Nunziata, to @DianaCMcNally for her decisive win in Parkdale-High Park, and to my dear friend @DavenportBravo for crushing it once again.
