Ukrainian book publishing has become a strategic target for Russia this summer. More than 13 million books have been destroyed in attacks on publishing warehouses. And today, the enemy struck another blow — destroying Kyiv’s oldest book market.

Russia destroyed 8 million books in a drone strike on the warehouse of Ukrainian publisher Ranok, including 600,000 school textbooks. This was not collateral damage—it was a deliberate attack on knowledge, memory, and Ukraine's future. #CultureUnderAttack #StandWithUkraine

Ukraine has always been part of European civilization. Long before today's Europe, Kyivan Rus shaped the continent's history, and Anne of Kyiv became Queen of France. Our future in Europe is also our history.

More than 1.5 million Ukrainian books have been destroyed in Russian missile attacks on printing warehouses in June and July. The international community must respond with the complete cultural isolation of Russia.

Nearly 1 million Ukrainian books were destroyed in Russia's missile strike on 18–19 July, including 250,000 Grade 9 textbooks prepared for schools. Another 650,000 scientific & fiction books were damaged. Russia is attacking education, culture & the future of Ukrainian children.

💔 A missile attack on Kyiv destroyed the central warehouse of BookChef's logistics partner, burning around 800,000 books. The Megapoligraf printing house was also damaged, where Ukrainian history textbooks for Ranok Publishing, were being printed.

Russia has struck the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, a @UNESCO World Heritage Site. Founded in 1051, the Lavra is one of the oldest Christian monasteries in Europe and a symbol of Ukraine's cultural and spiritual heritage.

Tonight, Russia heavily damaged National Art Museum of Ukraine, Chornobyl National Museum, National Philharmonic of Ukraine, National Music Academy of Ukraine, Yaroslav Mudryi National Library of Ukraine, Kyiv Opera, and numerous architectural landmarks.

April 26 marks the #Chornobyl disaster. Today, Russia uses nuclear threats, occupies Europe’s largest nuclear plant, and endangers nuclear safety.
The world must act — or history may repeat itself.

Russia’s State Library has revived a Soviet-style “special archive” to store thousands of seized Ukrainian books from occupied territories — labeling them “Ukrainian Russophobic literature.” About 10–12K titles collected since 2024.

russia continues ideological processing of the population in the occupied territories under the guise of “cultural development.” It reported the creation of seven “new generation libraries” in the occupied territories and promised to open nine more by the end of the year.

Russian libraries are no longer members of
@IFLA. Since 2022, the Ukrainian Library Association has worked systematically toward this outcome. Excluding Russian institutions helps protect democratic values and prevents legitimizing an aggressor state.

The Library on Priorka celebrated World Sleep Day! Children took part in a pajama party, read smart and 'healthy' books, watched the themed cartoon 'Dream Factory', organized a workshop on making herbal sachets 'The Magic of Healthy Sleep', and even did yoga in their pajamas.

Supporting libraries is key to community development! Yuriy Bova, head of the Trostyanets community, has secured PLN 50,000 for new technical equipment for the community libraries.
