Last week, students and staff at Oak Grove Elementary spent the last week of October playing literacy detectives for The Masked Reader! All week long, our young readers tuned in to daily video broadcasts featuring anonymous staff members in over-the-top, silly costumes reading their favorite picture books. With five personalized clues per reader, classrooms were buzzing with collaboration, critical thinking, and tons of giggles as students worked together to solve the ultimate school mystery. The excitement wrapped up at The Big Reveal last Friday. Mystery readers arrived live in full costume, and the entire school joined in the fun as the masks finally came off! This high-energy event was a quick, joyful reminder of what innovative literacy initiatives look like in action! #Lex1Reads #FallInLoveWithReading 🕵️♂️📚 @OGElementary

Did you know that military children move an average of 9 times during their K-12 experience? This month and every month, we take the time to recognize those who sacrifice to give us countless reasons to be grateful. Thank you. #MonthOfTheMilitaryFamily

In 2001, after the initial shock of 9/11, students at White Knoll Middle went into action. Students, staff and local leaders raised over $500,000 to buy a new fire truck for the New York City Fire Department.
WKMS students rallied support by selling 9/11 pins, stickers, and buttons at football games and around the community to fund the fire truck fund.
The @scstatemuseum is honoring WKMS in it’s “S.C. Remembers 9/11” exhibit. The exhibit shows the T-shirts, pins, and stickers student sold, along with pieces from what was Ladder 101. The exhibit is free to visit and open through April 4, 2027. #PatriotDay #NeverForget #25YearsLater youtube.com/shorts/jv_6gtk…

River Bluff High’s Alena Goveas was named the recipient of the 2026 R.D. Bennett Community Service Scholarship, awarded by the Electric Cooperatives of S.C.
She organized a senior wellness fair at Lexington Medical Extended Care, lining up donations, games, crafts, music and over $800 in snacks. After heading to Washington, D.C., for a week as one of Mid-Carolina Electric Cooperative Youth Tour delegates, she brought that inspiration back home to complete her project. Great work, Alena! #GraduateProfile #Lex1Proud youtube.com/shorts/uF9xlIc…

Bea Arnold has served the Lexington One community as a school bus driver for more than 20 years. Each day, she works to make sure students feel safe, welcomed and valued.
This year, Bea is celebrating 10 years of living with chronic myeloid leukemia, a slow-growing cancer that one marrow. Although cancer remains part of her life, Bea has learned to see each day as a gift. Her experience has taught her to take chances, enjoy life more fully and keep moving forward through difficult moments. That resilience has shaped the way she faces her own challenges and how she encourages others.
To help support cancer research and the development of new treatments, Bea created the “Bea-lieve in a Cure” team for the Light The Night Walk. She is especially inspired by children who are fighting leukemia and other blood cancers. Their strength and resilience motivate her to keep raising awareness and supporting the cause. Everyone who walks, donates or shares Bea’s message helps spread hope and reminds others that they do not have to face difficult times alone. #GraduateProfile
