These 18 books are currently banned in Utah schools state-wide. If you look closely, you'll notice a trend of female and minority authors, and LGBTQIA+ stories.
This is censorship, and it's reaching a dangerous level.

Thanks to @swankmotron for this beautiful, honest, and common sense piece in @CityWeekly that clearly explains the incredible value of books like Blankets. Books. Help. Teens. Banning books harms them.
In the new @CityWeekly, I wrote a direct response to @KenIvoryUT’s disingenuous, lie-filled “defense” of Utah’s draconian book banning through the lens of Craig Thompson’s masterpiece from @DandQ, Blankets. (cc @LetUtahRead @LUWriters) cityweekly.net/utah/the-case-…

Look, we're not going to fix Utah's penchant for passing unconstitutional legislation tomorrow - but we can make a difference by speaking up and showing up. The first step is easy: send an email to your legislators/governor today. And then share the link! letutahread.org/stopbookbans

The First Amendment protects us against book banning for religious or political reasons. Note the comments in this article about authors needing to "repent" and a sitting congressman 's bonkers take that YA books are "Marxist ideology". sltrib.com/news/education…

Listen to the authors... @EllenHopkinsLit has had not one but TWO books banned statewide in UT schools. And under Utah law she, or anyone that let's a 17 year old read her books, could be criminally charged. This is a terrible abuse of state power! youtu.be/5aX8PoJ18hs?si…
