Excited to share that we’ve been awarded an @ERC_Research AdG for our project DYNAMEM to study memory not as a static archive, but as a dynamic process. Immensely grateful to my team for their amazing work and support over the years!

🎉We are proud to share that @LMPrida, Director of the @CNCajal_CSIC, has been awarded an ERC Advanced Grant for DYNAMEM, a project that will investigate how the brain selects and uses memories to guide behaviour.

Thanks to @bartos_marlene for bringing us together. Looking forward to great discussions on inhibitory circuits.
Back in beautiful Freiburg for this exciting symposium (Inhibitory Neurons: From Synapses and Microcircuits to Behavior) to learn, to see colleagues and to share a discovery that was in its inception the last time I was here (Oh yeah, and to do at least one trail run in the

How do mathematicians reveal patterns in structures too complex to see directly?
That is at the heart of the work of 2026 Wolf Prize in Mathematics Laureates David Kazhdan and Joseph Bernstein.
Their discoveries helped build what is now known as geometric representation theory — lgebra, geometry and symmetry in powerful new ways.
Kazhdan’s work introduced new tools for understanding groups and symmetry, including the influential Kazhdan–Lusztig theory. Bernstein developed ideas such as D-modules and helped create mathematical frameworks that linked representation theory with geometry in entirely new ways.
The result is a mathematical language that allows researchers to move between different fields and uncover relationships that were previously hidden.
Watch the video for a clear visual introduction to their breakthrough — and see how abstract mathematics can connect geometry, algebra and symmetry in surprisingly elegant ways.

The news today of progress on resolving the Navier–Stokes problem, one of mathematics’ great longstanding challenges concerning the equations that govern the flow of fluids, represents a milestone advance in human knowledge. This story began with Navier, Stokes, Leray, and ulminated in the recent breakthroughs of Córdoba and Martínez-Zoroa, then — assisted by new technologies — Alpöge and Buckmaster, with the final steps taken by OpenAI mathematicians. The purpose of mathematics is human understanding, and this achievement, and the process that led to it, will bear fruit for a long time to come.
