Ironman Triathlon is an extremely risky endurance sports with swimming running and cycling. Additionally the dangerous bites inside sea as per this experience can become fatal.
I remember signing a disclaimer form online for Kodaikanal Ultra 138 kms in 2018 in Palani Hills, where I sighted Bisons for the first time . Big giant Bisons standing on the road at 2.30 AM during on course to race start venue.
We started at 3 AM in the morning and were uphill after 50 kms and many people said since there are forests nearby you may encounter wild animals like leopard or jackals while sailing through the route .
At once some wild animal also crossed out way which someone said was a baby leapord 😅.
I was lucky not to be eaten or bitten by one of the wild animals there😂.
So I am happy doing one full Marathon in a year . No life threatening adventures which also dent our pockets in a big way.

An athlete has described his swim experience at the Ironman 70.3 goa.
I feel very bad reading this. Pls educate me on these jelly fish stings. The reviews of it are mixed.
I hope everyone are safe 🙌

During the 42 kilometres distance of Standard Marathons held all over world , participants start on a slow pace and gradually move towards their normal pace till 21 kms , when fatigue starts setting in after 21-25 kms runners slow down ,tone down the pace but keep going after refueling through gels , electrolytes and hydrate with water.
At 30 kms the body is generally drained but for many runners the running pace remains intact and they keep running.
At 35 kms many runners hit a wall, get cramps ,many crawl but they keep running and walking.
That's what Marathon is ..the real test of endurance where you listen to body and adjust your pace and strategy according to how your body behaves.
The most basic thing many runners ignore during the Marathon is to just run freely without looking at watch every minute and without being bothered about how many gels they are carrying.
The basic rule of long distance running is to just run freely .. mentally as well as physically without any baggage of overload.
Just run without any pre conceived notions.

It is quite unfortunate and Sad that a trained Marathoner at a young age of 36 suffered cardiac arrest.
IBM Engineer, Kommineni Gopi was 36 Years old. A Young man , a trainer runner dying after finishing Marathon.
We don't know what's the actual parameter of fit to be a cidents happen.
But one thing which always remains a fact is knowing your limits and knowing that your body is giving distress signals to take it easy and slow down
I always say , you will have your PB broken in some other race if this race didnt go according to your plan but we have only one life to live .
Races can be run again for better performance, life can't be re run.
It is very important to be mindful of your diet, training, rest and sleep cycle when you are running Marathons and it should never be taken lightly because you have run it multiple times
Marathon is and remains an extreme endurance sports . You are responsible for carrying your body safely during the whole race without torturing it.

Back in 2006 in Bombay staying at Shivaji Park Dadar and eating Dosa at 10 Rupees just opposite Shiv Sena Bhavan and having 10 rupees Mango Shake was a luxury.
I used to get 1500 rupees as pocket money for monthly expenses. During first year of my stay at Bombay we used to get nes or Laptop.
Watching movies at Plaza Cinema , Dadar or Star City at Matunga meant spending 100 rupees for ticket and food. But we did watch somehow even if there was no money by borrowing from our rich room mates😅.
Imagine 100 rupees gone in one movie out of 1500 rupees. Then this was not only it, we used to buy novels on rent at 10 rupees a day from scrap shop and also magazines which were sold in scrap at 2-5 rupees .
Reading wise it was a great experience. There are also two gem of eateries near Dadar West Station, Sukh Sagar Bhojnalaya( Marwadi Eatery) for unlimited food for 700 rupees per month and Surti Farsan Mart for Snacks and Perfect tea or Chaas as you wish .
Mumbai was simplicity at its best .
On the other hand we had extremely rich students and localites of Bombay who partied every weekend at Marriott or Taj . So you can understand they were completely coming from a different world . Irrespective of that they were , they are still friends and we keep occasionally talking about each other .
But Yes, I remember this Bombay very much while we settled down slowly in the city of dreams.

Smart Phones give access to all kind of violent and adult content to children which mould the children psyche in an extremely bad and violent way.
The children don't eat when they are not given phones . Such habits make the children addict to smart phone viewing and violent in the long run.
They don't play outdoors and are stuck with mobile in room . In the growing children shall never be exposed to smart phones.
I got my first feature phone during my graduation time and there were no smart phones then.
Smart phones are a terrible things and not meant for children at all.
We need strict laws banning the use and handover of smart phones to children at even home before they attain the age of 18 years.

Terrible scenes today. Unable to focus. What is happening to our society and children.
We have normalised gory violence in mainstream entertainment, polity, everywhere. Any child can access any content without restrictions and see violence all around them in daily life. Worse situation with p@rnography, that's an entire horror by itself.
First point of blame is parenting. Children have been left unsupervised in a terrible world.

In 2006 I came to Bombay to do hotel management from Dadar Catering College (IHM Mumbai)
Lived in a 3 bed room on 6th Floor of the College with sea facing rooms . Ran at Shivaji Park for 3 Years.Loved the fresh Air and clean water without RO.
From 2006 to 2015 till I was there , I found the city as a real maximum city with perfect professionalism and a non polluted city with clean Air . AQI must be not more than 60-70 then .
Now Mumbai competes with Delhi in AQI . In Delhi we survive somehow in bad AQI and feels like blessing when AQI is below 150 but never thought same will be the issue in Bombay .

Walking is completely underrated . In Bangalore Ultra 2017 100 kms I met an excellent walker who walked at 8 km per hour pace and finished 100 km in almost 12 hours by just walking while I had a DNF at 65 km after 12 hours .
Additionally Walking puts less strain on leg joints and muscles which makes the leg recovery fast even after covering long distances.
For Ultra runners specially walking fast is very much effective.

Bhuvan walk most faster than joggers at this point.
One of my best performing clients and I am proud of him.
He also consumed 30 g protein this morning, love it!

Longer the mileage, better is the conditioning. For barefoot Runners like me longer mileage is the only way to run a blister free run.

Having black coffee on empty stomach is not a mistake. Having too many cups of black coffee on empty stomach is a mistake.
Black coffee is Love .
Black coffee is Love .
5 mistakes I made!
1)Having black coffee first thing on an empty stomach
2)Running to prove I was good enough, in the later part of the journey.
3)Not investing in land in my thirties and forties
4)Taking feedback personally
5)Not learning technology.
What are your mistakes?

The fundamentals of living are screwed with polluted air to breathe
It's truly sad that we in the #fitness community are advocating the importance of staying fit and strong on a daily basis, while the cities we live in are getting more and more dangerously polluted each day with even the air becoming difficult to breathe. And our incompetent authorities are doing zilch to rectify the situation.

Responsible fitness minded people, please note..
Strong knees need more than strong muscles!
▶️As we age, maintaining knee health is not just about lifting weights or walking regularly. We also need to preserve muscle strength, mobility, balance, agility and coordination.
These 5 exercises can help:
✅ Goblet squats
✅ ✅ Twisting jump-ups
✅ Quick-feet drills
🔸But I would like to caution that: Not every exercise is suitable for every knee.
✅Start with low-impact variations, progress gradually, and avoid jumping or twisting drills if you have knee pain, significant osteoarthritis or balance problems.
✅Chair squats, supported step-ups and controlled balance exercises are safer starting points for many people.
▶️The goal is to build stronger knees, and to stay mobile, prevent falls and remain independent as we grow older.
🔸Exercise should be tailored to your fitness level and joint health; not your age alone.
📌 Save this article and share it with someone who wants to age actively and healthily.

Interesting perspective. But this raises a question for marathon runners which is if adequate carbs during training help maximize glycogen stores, what additional role do gels play over 42 km?
Are they mainly helping maintain blood glucose and sustain performance as glycogen declines, rather than simply sparing glycogen??
And if the training cycle, recovery and pre-race carb loading are all optimized, how much additional benefit comes from fueling during the race??
Is there a point where more carbs stop helping and individual gut tolerance becomes the limiting factor??
Would like to hear from you more about it.

Everyone "knows" why fueling works…
You eat more carbs. spare your glycogen, and go faster.
Three recent studies on carbs and durability say that story is incomplete.
In one study, cyclists ate 60 or 100 g carbs/hr over a 4-hr ride, then did a 15-min time trial.
Power ith 60 g, 6.4% with 100 g. ~9 extra watts. Glycogen fell a lot in both, with no detectable difference.
Another study pushed it further to 90 vs 120 vs 150 g/hr.
Athletes burned more of what they ate, but whole-body carb oxidation was identical at 120 and 150, and exercise capacity didn't differ significantly.
The final study found that “artificially” elevating endogenous carbohydrate utilization almost doubled the drop in power at the first ventilatory threshold after 2 hours of riding.
How I think about it: carbs aren't a performance-enhancing drug. They let you use the fitness you've built.
I suspect the brain is part of it. When your body senses there's fuel available, it lets you push longer.

Well Said Sudhanshu.
Running is an individualistic genre .
We run individually because we like to do .We participate in running events because we love to do that.
Comparison is the last thing a runner can do who really loves this sports.
Some people run for Fitness, Some for mental sanity , some for love of it.
It's a not a school competition where we have to come first or second .
At the end of the day it's the love of running because of which we keep repeating the incessant loops and not because someone has to be chased or a record is to be made.

I totally agree with this point.
But we need to also remember as Aristotle said-To avoid criticism:
Say nothing, do nothing, be nothing.
No individual should belittle anyone for sure. I am huge proponent of this.
I have been running SOLO for 6+ years & I am quite aware how much of running sucks and how much difficult it is to keep showing up everyday. There was no one besides me to have a motivating self talk to propel myself to just show up hundreds of times.
Let me share my personal snippet of story here:
A lot of people from the outside thinks me as that I run fast & I am a good runner because I podium at trail races as well but deep down I would like to tell that there hasn't been once I have felt that elation crossing the finish line. Every time I am pissed off, a lot frustrated and keep saying to myself that there is no point in being happy with these kind of podiums with below average performances.
If anyone looks at my training and then at my races, I am far away from what I could achieve because I blow up at races. So, what I wanted to convey is that people from the outside think he is one heck of a runner but in my own image I feel like a boatload of crap because I am leaving a lot on the table.
Now coming back to the thing that is belittling, I have come to terms that nobody outside you can come close to the way you want to live, I repeat no one. And this means, naysayers will be ever present and we need to develop a teflon coating for all of this noise. I know it sucks a lot when we are trying to do something and someone comments about that in negative connotation.
I have been compared by my own family that you are a lot slow in comparison to other people, I don't give a damn because they know nothing about this running thing. I am still under performing at races but I know I have progressed as an overall athlete. I still believe in myself because a lot of the times there would be no one to cheer for you and that is the time we need to be our biggest cheer leader.
It is as simple as that- FUCK IT. It is a pretty good thing to say never belittle someone but we have to come to terms that it ain't possible and we just need to keep supporting each other and show kindness of the highest level. But whenever you get belittled, don't give a damn. That's what we learn, we need to stay neutral as it is said-The elephant keeps walking while the dogs keep barking. Whoever gets belittled, you are in a total different phase of progression, don't care about the comment you got.
Care about living upto your own potential and throw down the sledge hammer on SHOWING UP EVERY MOTHER FUCKING DAY.
If someone is covering 5 KM in an hour, that individual is in the arena and we can't throw critics especially at the ones trying their best to uphold themselves.
If anything is slow, then Sawe & Kejelcha can easily mock even Jonathan Korir & whole contingent of American marathoners for being not able to run under 2:04.
Everything is relative in life. You are you on your own journey, keep saying this to yourself. Live life according to inner scorecard and not the outer score card which is according to anyone outside you.
Also John Bingham said- The miracle isn't that I finished, the miracle is that I had the courage to start.
Don't back down.
KEEP SHOWING UP.
