Allow me to tell you about Madeira, m’dear…
There’s far more to this Portuguese island than spectacular scenery, although the views alone are worth the journey.
A big thank you to Mad Tuk for a fabulous tuk-tuk tour of Funchal, which even included a glimpse of Cristiano If you’re planning a visit, my advice is to take the cable car up to Monte visit the magnificent church atop the hill and make your descent aboard one of the island’s famous wicker toboggans. Go early to beat the queues and take an extra layer. It can be surprisingly chilly in the hills, even when the sun is shining on the seafront.
And whatever you do, don’t miss Reid’s Palace, Madeira’s legendary grand hotel, conceived by Scottish entrepreneur William Reid and completed by his sons after his death.
We hopped on a bus for a few stops from the seafront and stepped off into another world. Opened in 1891, this magnificent hotel has welcomed everyone from Winston Churchill to Hollywood stars like Roger Moore and Gregory Peck. Its famous afternoon tea terrace, overlooking the Atlantic, is worth a visit in its own right. Watch out for the wind - it can be brutal!
Then it was back to the ship in time for the afternoon quiz. As reigning champions, we have a reputation to defend and the stakes are high.
Perhaps they’ll ask who built Reid’s Palace.
That’ll be one point to us!

Yesterday in Plymouth, whilst Farage was publicly attacking me, I was facing something far greater. Lucy, my partner of seven years and the mother of my three children, had taken her own life.
Lucy had been struggling with her mental health since the summer. She stood by me through every change I made. When we met, after I had served three years in prison, she didn't judge me. She saw who I was trying to become.

We had seven wonderful years together. It weighed heavily on her that her life was being shaped by mistakes I made a decade ago.
Lucy was the love of my life and my soulmate. She is irreplaceable. Our boys will grow up knowing how much their mother loved them, and their care now rests with me.

Well worth a visit.
Stumbled upon this magnificent structure in the heart of Lisbon. Convento do Carmo was badly damaged in the devastating earthquake of 1755 and, although partly restored, remains open to the elements. Hauntingly beautiful.

We don’t use Starlink for our responses inside Russia. We use Starlink to intercept jet-powered “shaheds” that attack our civilians and kill families.
Starlink wasn’t turned off – its speed was reduced. And when the speed was reduced, we were unable to intercept a certain number of jet-powered “shaheds.” We couldn’t use a tool that helps protect people. That’s very painful and frustrating.
We also use Starlink for mid-range strikes against enemy military targets in our temporarily occupied territories. We couldn’t do that when the restrictions were in place. And third, what matters most is people. Our warriors, who spend weeks and months on the front line, receive food and water delivered by drones using Starlink.
Has the speed been fully restored to what it was before? No. Is it being restored now? Yes.
