But don't worry, we've been preparing for this day by passing laws that restrict your right to protest. In the United Kingdom, Italy, and throughout Europe. Did it work? Absolutely. But there is one democracy that has managed to crush the rights to protest in a terrible way. Visit Australia, where protesting without a permit is effectively illegal in most parts of the country and in key public spaces in our major cities. As is the case in Western Australia, where we enforce one of the most restrictive permit systems in the country.

So don't sign the declaration of our right to protest; we need these anti-protest laws for our safety. Why would I deceive you? Although the main things they protect are coal ports, arms dealers, and data centers, that may explain why you continue to protest. We have prohibited you from being present in public waters. However, you blocked the path of a coal ship anyway. We gave the police special powers to protect the thugs who killed Zumi Franco. However, you continued to attend. We tried to stop you from protesting an official visit by a war criminal who signed off on bombs dropped on Gaza, but despite taking you to court four times, the number of protests we stopped is almost zero.

Honestly, Australia, we expected better from you. I know that. It seems that people have read history books and remembered that every right we have was taken away by people who did not ask anyone's permission.
